J.J. McCarthy, playing with the twos against the first-team defense, was picked off by Eric Wilson. He did have a nice completion to Jeshaun Jones earlier.

In 7-on-7, Kyler Murray just had back-to-back nice completions to Jordan Addison. Second one was a dot to the sideline while running to his right.

Biggest scuffle of camp so far just broke out after a Jauan Jennings catch. I looked down and missed how it started. Got broken up pretty quickly.

Whether psychological effect or coincidence, Kyler Murray just had easily one of his best practices of camp.

Only one ball hit the ground all day. Several chunk gains through the air to Jefferson, Addison, Felton. Looked very comfortable with decision-making.

I think it's a bit of both. It also validates KOC's decision and let's us all breathe a bit easier.

Today was a shorter day of practice, and I went up late because I had to get an Access Vikings podcast posted for you all. Here's what we observed though:

• Tempers flared for the first real times in camp. Two small fights broke out in the final 11-on-11 period, one with Kyler Murray and the first-team offense on the field. The second came following the second-to-last rep of practice when Max Brosmer was leading a down-the-depth-chart offense against the first-team defense. Both were quelled relatively quickly but did see players come off the sideline.

• Right guard Will Fries did not practice, and we didn't spot him in street clothes until the end of the afternoon. Joe Huber played in his place. Left tackle Christian Darrisaw was back in the mix after getting some rest Sunday night.

• Also back to action: Defensive linemen Caleb Banks and Levi Drake Rodriguez, as well as safety Jay Ward, who had been in concussion protocol but practiced Sunday in a red, no-contact jersey. Rookie safety Jakobe Thomas has not participated in group periods -- 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 -- for a few days. We have not yet heard if that's injury related or for some other reason. Jacob Thomas (no relation) has been playing more with the second team.

• In his first day as the Vikings' starting quarterback, we saw Murray push the ball downfield on a number of plays, including on back-to-back completions to Jordan Addison during 7-on-7s. The second completion was one of the best passes we've seen from Murray through camp, as he rolled right and dropping a dime to an out-breaking Addison. Murray also had a nice completion to Tai Felton in open space.

• Jamal Adams again got quite a bit of snaps at safety today. We saw him in blitz packages several times.
