With he U.S. House of Representatives recently passing the Sunshine Protection Act, making Daylight Saving Time permanent nationwide one step closer, just curious what everyone's thoughts/preferences are. While it appears that folks are for a permanent time & not having to change their clocks twice a year, the discussion/debate is whether DST or ST is better and why they feel that way.

Permanent Standard Time ("Natural Sun Time"): Pros: Scientists, sleep experts, and health organizations heavily favor this option. Morning sunlight naturally triggers the cortisol required to wake up, reducing rates of sleep disorders, obesity, and heart issues.

Cons: Sunsets in the summer happen an hour earlier, meaning fewer sunny hours for outdoor evening recreation.

Permanent Daylight Saving Time ("Sunshine Protection"): Pros: Popular with many lawmakers and businesses because it provides an extra hour of daylight in the evening, promoting outdoor activities and retail spending. Also, from what I've read, appears most folks prefer this.

Cons: Disrupts natural circadian rhythms. Causes late sunrises during winter. In some northern regions, the sun wouldn't rise until after 9:00 a.m., leading to dark, hazardous morning commutes for adults and students waiting for school buses.

I know this doesn't affect those in Hawaii and Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Nation), but what about the rest of you?

I'm fine with it, but individual states can still opt out.....which would completely defeat the purpose. IMO, just do it. Its an antiquated thing we do, outlived its purpose decades ago.

I might be the only person on the planet who thinks this way, but I actually like it the way it is.

@MaroonBells ~ Actually, you're not the Lone Ranger on this. 😎 Just in the minority. Others have stated the same.

Yep, you're the only person on the planet lol. I don't strongly care which they pick as long as its one of them. I guess the summer version is my preferred choice.
