Live: Forest Service closing Boundary Waters due to fires and extreme heat

Growing-up in the midwest, you get used to a few 100 degree days once in a while, they're pretty rare...We avg 13 90+ degree days over summer.

It's pretty rare we get 7+ days in a row at 93-95+ and heat indices 100+.

Massive heat dome here until Sunday at the earliest.

I know, I expect a "hold my beer" from u southerners..

We're in the mid-80's today with 64% humidity in Northwest Montana, while East of the Continental Divide (East of the mountains), it may have gotten to 118 degrees (they are verifying it...if so, it would be an all-time record temp for the entire state). They for certain recorded 114 degree readings from yesterday.

Not taking it for granted here. Just blessed that we avoided the mega-heat. At least Minnesota doesn't get much summer humidity (LOL).

Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.

Man, do u ever get used to that?

Ive been in Jax for biz in August...A nice air conditioned hotel, clothes hanging in the closet felt wet the next am.

When we were a younger family, we vacationed in Tampa/St Pete in August, b4 school started. Always stayed at The Pink Lady and the waters were so warm down there, great memories.

I luv it in Fl Jan-Mar though!

This has been bad for south Florida....its been like this for 3 to 4 weeks. That's unusual. Unrelenting. We've had Saharan dust for a month and its kept alot of rain away and temps high. But it also keeps hurricane wave formations from forming off the coast of Africa and moving here....

Thats rough dude.

Super El Nino this year...Probably going to have a warmer, less snowy winter up here is the prediction.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

I lived in Jax from 2000-2010. Loved being able to walk around in T-shirt and shorts at night for 6 months of the year. It was going out in sunlight that was occasionally a problem!
