Oh man, 24 years old...Just a kid still.

Is the shield doing enough to protect its player assets? The players union?

I dont know?

It seems like concussion protocols have improved, but I'm no dr. either.

The NFL just hired Dr Myron Rolle to assist/guide towards a deeper understanding of CTE.

How are they going to stop CTE without turning it into flag football?  It’s just not going to happen.

90% of the players have CTE or some crazy numbers like that.  No amount of technology is going to stop the brain from slamming into the inside of the skull when a player goes from 20 mph to 0 mph in an instant or when a helmet hits the ground.

Like you’d probably have to change the playing surface to something that slowed them down significantly, like playing in a 12 in pool of water.

The precise percentage of all NFL players with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is unknown, as the condition can only be definitively diagnosed after death. However, a major Boston University study found evidence of CTE in 91.7% (345 out of 376) of examined brains donated by former NFL players. [1, 2]

While these numbers are alarmingly high, experts caution that this is not a representative sample of all living players. Because the brains were donated by families suspecting brain trauma, the data is subject to selection bias. For a broader perspective, a large study of nearly 2,000 living former players showed that 34% believe they suffer from CTE, heavily correlating with memory loss, chronic pain, and depression.
