I am shocked. Thought it would be Brez for sure.

So they are hiring the guy who wanted Darnold to replace the guy who didn't want him 😀

Solid hire from the options that were available, was hoping for him or McKay. Brez would have been nothing more than a point guard, rather have a real personnel guy, something we have not had in awhile. Seems like a guy who will have a natural synergy with KOC, who I am sure had a lot to do with the choice. They will probably give Brez a bump in title and let him continue to do what he does best.

Can't see anyone complaining about this hire. Seriously. If he and KOC are united, we might be on the precipice of some good times.

Nearly four months to the day after they fired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the Vikings officially hired their next general manager on Saturday, bringing in Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley to run their front office after a three-week search. The team finished in-person interviews with a group of five finalists on Thursday, wrapping things up with Broncos assistant GM Reed Burckhardt on Wednesday and Rams assistant GM John McKay on Thursday. Their decision to hire Teasley comes with three weeks left in the offseason program, and sets their new front office structure a week before the team’s mandatory minicamp begins on June 9.

Teasley comes to the Vikings after a Seahawks’ Super Bowl run that was charged by sharp personnel decisions, like recent drafts that delivered wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and safety Nick Emmanwori, as well as the March 2025 move to sign Sam Darnold after his breakout year with the Vikings. Teasley had been with Seattle since 2013, when the team won its first Super Bowl title, and he’d ascended through the team’s pro personnel scouting operation before becoming assistant GM under John Schneider in 2022.

Teasley worked in marketing for six years after graduating from Eastern Washington, before realizing he wanted to pursue a career in football and writing letters to all 32 teams looking for work. The internship he started with the Seahawks in 2013 led to a full-time job, and Teasley did everything from undrafted free agent scouting to draft and free agency prep during his time in Seattle.

The Vikings largely kept quiet about their general manager search, but their candidate list tracked closely with what co-owner Mark Wilf said he wanted this offseason, with a GM retaining control over the roster with input from scouts and coaches. At the NFL owners meetings in March, Wilf said the Vikings wanted a GM who could bring different departments of the front office together under a shared vision.

“We certainly want someone who is a great leader,” Wilf said. “Someone who can lead. We feel we have a great scouting staff. Great coaching staff. Of course, never resting on any laurels. We want to be competitive every single year and have long-term success. So someone’s got to fit within that. It’s got to fit within what we have in our building right now, as well. So it’s a host of factors. Hopefully we’ll know it when we see it.”

Really am surprised they selected the one guy who didn't have a history with the Vikings or KOC. I think it is a solid hire.

Teasley was the only candidate among the five finalists without a clear connection to the team or a key member of the organization. Brzezinski has worked for the Vikings since 1999 in a variety of roles, while Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Terrence Gray and Denver Broncos assistant general manager Reed Burckhardt each spent more than a decade with them as a scout. Los Angeles Ramsassistant general manager John McKay, meanwhile, worked with coach Kevin O'Connell when O'Connell was the Rams' offensive coordinator in 2020 and 2021.

Still, the Wilfs made clear that they were not looking to overhaul the entire front office. Mark Wilf said in March that he thought the team had a "great scouting staff, great coaching staff" and wanted to hire something to "fit within that." Teasley will be tasked with navigating an organization that has leaned heavily on O'Connell and other members of the coaching staff to guide personnel and draft moves in recent years. But he will enter the position with scouting credentials that Adofo-Mensah, a data analyst, never had.

The Wilfs kept a relatively close circle of advisors in the hiring process, leaning mostly on O'Connell and chief operating officer Andrew Miller. Zygi and Mark Wilf were also joined in at least some interviews by four of their adult children: Zygi's son Jonathan and Mark's sons Steven, Daniel and Andrew.

A 2007 graduate of Central Washington University, where he played football through his junior year, Teasley worked in the business world for six years before deciding to change professions. He joined the Seahawks as an intern in 2013 before being promoted to a promoted to pro scout. He also served as an assistant director of pro personnel and then director of pro personnel before ascending to his most recent role as assistant general manager.

Brzezinski directed the team through an offseason dedicated largely to getting the franchise back under solid financial footing.

Adofo-Mensah had used heavy free agent spending to reinforce the roster in the wake of multiple poor drafts, and the Vikings spent roughly $100 million over the cap during the 2024 and 2025 offseasons combined. Brzezinski secured pay cuts from tight end T.J. Hockenson and running back Aaron Jones, released defensive tackles Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave, and then traded linebacker Jonathan Greenard rather than extend his contract.

In particular, Brzezinski acknowledged that trading Greenard was "not something we're jumping around excitedly about" and felt compelled to say that the Wilfs had not ordered a spending cutdown.

"We have just spent so much money the last several years that it's not sustainable for us to move forward," Brzezinski said in April. "Our salary cap situation has been very, very challenging."

Brzezinski went bargain-hunting in free agency, signing six players from other teams. Most notably, quarterback Kyler Murray will cost the Vikings only $1.3 million while most of his $36.7 million salary is paid out by the Arizona Cardinals.

All told, the Vikings are on track to spend about $100 million less in payroll in 2026 than they did in 2025.

Despite not being chosen to remain in the GM role, the general expectation is that Brzezinski — who has been with the Vikings for nearly 30 years — will return to his previous role as the salary cap guru and a lead contract negotiator.

Make note of a detail that could be overlooked: Nolan Teasley has gone from intern to being a very powerful NFL executive. He didn’t get handed his position but, rather, worked his way up through promotions.

When Minnesota needed short-term help to work through February, March, and April, the Vikings brought long-time Seahawks executive Matt Thomas to town to help. Presumably, Minnesota is in a good spot to get some firsthand insight about Nolan Teasley since there’s a strong relationship with Thomas.

Kinda weird dropping the news on a Saturday. I know these days the news cycle is 24/7, but all the big sports talk shows still run M-F. The Saturday reveal feels to me like the Vikings hope the media world has already turned by Monday so everyone can go back to dissecting JJM's prepositions.

Seems like a good hire to me. Like the little detail that he was in marketing 6 years before getting into football. He can see both sides of the GM coin.

Deep, deep scouting background, he's a grinder, only 42....former college football player. Definitely the antithesis of KAM. The Wilfs learned.
