Deebo Samuel to pair with Jauan Jennings?

The San Francisco 49ers' wide receiver room entering 2026 looks absolutely nothing like it did a mere two years ago when stars like Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel topped the depth chart, one that was rounded out by an unsung hero, Jauan Jennings.

Two of those names, Jennings and Samuel, are gone now; the former departing via free agency to the Minnesota Vikings.

Any team seeking a versatile weapon who can line up at multiple offensive positions, as well as contribute on special teams, should have interest in Samuel.

So, who'd be interested?

While there was a modestly entertaining thought of San Francisco welcoming Samuel back with open arms earlier this offseason, the likelihood of that seems awfully slim.

But, we mentioned the Vikings. How about them?

Could Vikings add Deebo Samuel to pair with Jauan Jennings?

Minnesota, still without a general manager, could feasibly be looking for yet another experienced wide receiver despite inking Jennings to a one-year deal. After all, giving quarterback Kyler Murray as many weapons as possible in his own first year with the Vikings should be a priority for head coach Kevin O'Connell.

49ers fans know too well what Jennings will bring to the Vikings offense: a physical and bruising third-down target who is unafraid to get dirty in perimeter blocking. Plus, with All-Pro Justin Jefferson commanding the playmaking WR1 spot, getting that tertiary YAC specialist like Samuel does make some sense.

Heck, even Kay included Minnesota as a potential landing spot because of such reasons.

True, Samuel will likely wait things out until later this summer to evaluate whatever best options he has, and it's possible the Vikings don't make any other substantial moves until they decide upon a full-time GM.

But, if Samuel does join Jennings in the NFC North, it wouldn't exactly be a shock. And with the Niners hosting Minnesota in their Week 11 Mexico City game, having both Samuel and Jennings on the other side would certainly provide an added wrinkle.
