Why the Vikings aren’t creating new position
There’s been a lot of speculation that the Vikings should promote Rob and hire a GM under him. Not going to happen.
After the Falcons fired their GM, they created a new position of President of Football Operations. The league requires that a team interview at least 2 external minority candidates for the PRIMARY FOOTBALL EXECUTIVE (PFE) position. The Falcons did this and ultimately hired Matt Ryan. They then interviewed separately for GM and hired Ian Cunningham. Because Cunningham is not the PME, the Bears were not awarded 2 compensatory picks even though Cunningham is a minority promoted to GM.
If they were going down this path, they would be interviewing for a President of Football Operations now. They are not. The new GM will be the PFE. If Rob B doesn’t get GM, his options are to go back to Salary cap administrator, or resign. He’s not getting head of business operations. Andrew Miller is COO.
I’m not stating a preference, just stating reality.
Ummmm....careful with all of this logic and 'reality' stuff. Remember, KOC sucks.

He has done a pretty damn good job to be called overrated. PS. I think it will end up being McKay for the glorified scouting GM vacancy
Like I said, I've never seen a guy who's never won anything be given so much power over an organization. Last year was the tipper for me with his handling of the quarterbacks to his outright refusal to run the football and establish any kind of balance on offense. Didn't matter who was back there getting killed behind that makeshift line. Didnt matter that McCarthy hadnt played a snap of football in almost two years. It was a complete continuation of the end of our 2024 season against the Lions and Rams, when we saw the EXACT same thing with Darnold and the offense in those games. 28th ranked offense last year and he's still running the ol' "chuck and duck " Of course we ALL want him to succeed, but just like with Kwesi, when I think we have the wrong people in place at key organizational positions (which I do), I'm going to say so. Lots to prove this year for the "whisperer." We are a better roster (on paper), he's got his dwarf king at quarterback, so no more excuses. Get to the playoffs and advance..
