What the hell is going on with people?

Too many people with too much rage

Too many people just looking for any reason to be enraged

Media, Washington and politicians for years have lit the fire

Solace I get is that karma is a bad mother F'er...

We have entered the world of in-accountable people Sitting behind a keyboard essentially being anonymous. This has empowered generations of people who will say and do anything and never have to account for their actions.

This is the downside of the technology we have today. We see it right here on this board when certain folks call others "stupid" because they don't agree or have the same experience as others.

Unfortunately, there are real human beings on the receiving end of much of this. Those that perpetrate this don't have to answer if someone does take their life or shoot up a school or many other acts that have been done. You see it every where now. Political discourse is probably the worst. More and more, if someone disagrees, the wish and call for harm upon those that disagree is growing.

I am an IT guy, and you may have seen some of the news and articles about an AI that blackmailed folks to keep it running (Claude Opus). This is going to grow. What happens when some politician sets AI off to reek havoc on his political opponent, what about someone with an ex? Now you can hide even further behind this....

I have split thoughts on the matter.

1. I do believe that because of social media, you can broadcast your message to a practically infinite number of people, and some of those people are going to be messed up in the head and say stuff they shouldn’t, and because any fraction times infinity is still infinity it feels overwhelming.  Pretty much every popular person has expressed how tough the comment sections are in their platforms.

2. I also … <<Putting Tin Foil Hat On>> … I also believe that a very large amount of the “people” on the internet are actually bots/agents that are trying to piss you off to get you to engage with their content.  The social media companies themselves benefit from you rage-posting on stuff on their platforms.  We know the FBI has agents on most platforms and online communities, both trying to catch bad behavior, but also trying to instigate bad behavior.  The government and the oligarchy that owns the government both benefit from making you feel like the rest of the world is a bunch of shitheads that are a threat to both you and the good people of the world.  You must vote Democrat or Republican because the other side is unsafe.  As long as you focus on your peers, you won’t be focusing on overthrowing those who keep trying to build a prison planet and start WW3 at every possible opportunity.

Regardless, athletes probably shouldn't be on social media, outside of controlled branding deals.
