How to block another member
Blocking Another Member
If another member is bothering you, you can block them. Blocking is personal — only you see the effect, and the other person is never notified.
How to Block Someone
Go to the member's profile page and click the Block button next to the Message button. You'll be taken to a settings page where you can choose exactly what to block.
What You Can Block
- Direct messages from them — they won't be able to start a conversation with you
- Their threads and posts — hides their threads from category listings; their posts inside any thread show as a collapsed placeholder you can expand if you choose
- Their messages in chat — their chat messages are hidden from you in real time
You can also use the Block everything toggle at the top to turn all of these on at once.
How to Unblock or Adjust Settings
There are two ways:
- Visit the member's profile — the Block button will now say Manage Block. Click it to adjust individual settings or click Unblock to remove the block entirely.
- Go to Settings (your profile edit page) and scroll to the bottom. The Blocked Members section lists everyone you've blocked with a quick Unblock button on each row.
A Few Notes
- Moderators and admins cannot be blocked
- Blocking someone does not prevent them from seeing your posts
- The blocked person is never told they've been blocked
