More trade scenarios than you wanted to know:
With all the talk about if the Vikings should/will trade down from 18 or some other trade to fill that 4th round gap in our 9 picks, I nerded out and found the 2026 draft value chart
https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart-Rich-Hill.asp?RequestTeam=MIN
and figured out trade-downs with every team below us in the 1st round. For 2 teams, Seattle and Buffalo, while the trades are a value match, I think there's no way they're moving up. Seattle only has 4 picks: 32, 64, 96, and 188. If Buffalo did this proposed trade, their next pick after 18 would be #165. Anyway, here's 14 trades that Brez might pull on Thursday night:
CAR: gets #18, Vikings 19 +158.
DAL: 18+163, Vikings #20 + 112
PIT: 18, Vikings #21+121+237 (The Steelers have 11 picks, a prime candidate)
LAC: 18+163+196, Vikings #22+86 (An odd one. Vikes lose a 6th, but pole vault their 5th 77 spots)
PHI: 18, Vikings #23+98+187
CLE: 18+49, Vikings #24+39+146
CHI: 18+97, Vikings #25+57 (yes, I know, division rival, yuck, but you never know...)
BUF: 18, Vikings #26+91+126
SF: 18, Vikings #27+127+133+138+139 (Well, you wanted 4th rounders...)
HOU: 18+163, Vikings #28+59
KC: 18+163, Vikings #29+74+109
MIA: 18, Vikings #30+87+94
NE: 18, Vikings #31+63+131
SEA: 18+163+196, Vikings #32+64+96
The Steeler and Eagle trades I like the best, while the SF swap makes me grin just for the weird of it.
Another possible trade: our #97 for SF's 127+133. Fills in the middle of the draft board.
Great work. My money is on we stay at #18. The days of "Trader Rick" and "Analytics Kwesi" are gone. More draft picks has not proven to translate into more wins.
I dont know if it was Supa, MB or someone else? But the value for us at 18 is hard to imagine...Too early for a RB (not named Love), probably too early for IDL and S being a non-premium position is debatable at 18 too...Maybe premiumness of position shouldn't even be included in rankings????
I thought it crazy a few weeks ago, but (as someone mentioned in another thread) it really may get down to a WR, Sadiq or (my favorite) a slight trade-down netting us a 4th rounder and one of the two S's.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
If we want to add our missing 4th rounder, Vikings need only trade down two spots. I think unless they want Sadiq, Tyson, Cooper, Faulk or Thieneman, they should trade down.
If we want to trade back a few spots, I'm hoping the top OT's slide and teams start trading up to around pick 18 for one of those top OT's. Pick 18 is possibly about where the safeties start coming off the board as well.
But I'm hoping the Vikings stick 'n pick at 18. At least one desirable player will slide down more than anyone is anticipating.

Both Bain and Downs have some slide characteristics. Doubt either makes it all the way to 18, but stranger things...
If they have to stick and pick? I say just take Thieneman and call it a rd1 day...
If they have a chance to move down? Grab a 4th? Then I might be very tempted to take Cooper Jr. or Sadiq in Rd1.
Cooper Jr can just flat out play football and imo can play in or out. Thats if they still have questions re: Felton
I dont know what kind of tread TJH has left? But Sadiq would be quite a weapon and then add Price Rd2? That would make me happy too - but I think they gotta go IDL by Rd2 if there's one that fits.

Toll of bad drafts is now here, it's been 4 years. Vikings have to find depth.
If the Vikings trade any high picks and or greenard wonder if they'll be asking for players and picks in compensation.
?Brez not having to explain the cap ramifications of any move the Vikings make draft to the GM is an advantage.
We'll see?
Ran a few draft simulations last night on https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft. No subscription and you can use player rankings from them, PFF, or ESPN.
We may not have much of a shot at Thieneman. He kept jumping off the board around 11-13. That combine performance apparently gave him a major jolt. Warren OTOH was usually there at 18... but not much longer. Once with Thieneman off the board I got greedy with a trade and dropped to 27 with SF. Sure enough, EMW went at 21 and I was facepalming myself.
Whatever people may say about "impact" positions, the IDL and CB possibilities at 18 to me seem far shakier than EMW. Either inconsistent play or medical questions.

I was on espn’s draft simulator, took 2hrs
Coming up with one I liked. Traded down 4 spots with chargers.
22. DT/Edge Keldric Faulk
49. LB Jacob Rodriguez
82. S Treydan Stukes
86. C Logan Jones (pick from Chargers)
97. RB Mike Washington Jr
(Tough gap to wait here)
163. WR Colbie Young
196. DT Cameron Ball
234. OG Anaz Cooper
235. TE Lake McRee
244. QB Haynes King
Addicting stuff!
Toughest position to line up was a TE that matched the spot.

Applause for the trade-down
I really like the top 4 from a needs perspective and adding Rodriguez at 49 would be a wonderful haul...The D could use a youth infusion and depth..Would be hard for me to wait till 97 for a RB, but few would argue C is not a need as wel.
Glad we have 11 picks, but man this is the first year I am really noticing how poor drafting has put the team in a bit of a tough spot.

Knew you were a Rodriguez fan, and we agree after diving into him myself.
Stukes is the only S that would make me ok with missing Thieneman (sp?) at 18.
Edit: those interactive mocks, the wait between pick 97 and 163 was brutal. Some solids in that group. I’d love to see a packaging of 163 & 196 up a bit.

Love J Rod and Stukes. Stukes actually had a lot of snaps at Slot, more than safety, so I’m not sure he’s really a Thieneman substitute. Definitely has the size to play either.
