It does seem odd, wondering if he is having 2nd thoughts or if team is trying to work out deal to bring him back.

This doesn't make sense that he would wait to announce til after  June 1st. 
They will have to plan for FA moves as well as the Draft, so I'm sure that they are in conversations to know his intention.
He can still be a post-June 1 retirement.
