Allen getting released?
$8M of Jonathan Allen's 2026 salary is fully guaranteed. An outright release by the #Vikings here frees up $6.5M, while a Post 6/1 Designation can open up $11.2M (in June). https://t.co/HkFOLKxLJ6

Jonathan Allen and Ryan Kelly are two more names to keep an eye on for the #Vikings as Minnesota looks to be cap compliant, per @alec_lewis. pic.twitter.com/R2ikh2NEpR

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
Has everybody forgotten that you can spend future cap dollars today?
Why are all these "professionals" framing everything like we're poor.
Just report that the Vikings don't really like Allen's performance for his cost or whatever. Why frame it like we can't afford to do anything, when we're less constrained than most other teams?
They thought they were making a run last year and spent like drunken sailors at a whore house, except they forgot the quarterback had never taken an NFL snap before. Now it's time to cut the overpriced veterans we signed last offseason and get younger. Do I trust this front office to make wise decisions as currently structured? Hell no! However, this is the right move
This idea is just plain dumb. We'd be eating $17M dead cap to save $6.5M and then we have to go out and find two starting DTs?
Who expects the Vikings to do this is not explained. If they're not saying "An insider says ..." I think it just means the tweeter believes this, rather than a reporter reporting something.

Wonder what happens to hargrave?
Hargrave was already released .. or more accurately, the Vikings stated he'll be released soon.

Was thinking the same thing. Not so much about this particular news, but how the media is framing all of our decisions lately. We're a handful of painless contract conversions away from having plenty of cap space. With Allen and Hargrave, the performance didn't match the salary. No more complicated than that.

Last year's FA class: yikes it was bad.I just don't get signing KAM to a contract extension and then firing him while he's attending the Senior Bowl. The whole thing reeks. He's deservedly gone, that isn't my beef....but whatever. Its done. Let's get some shit done this offseason and Draft so we can compete in the NFCN, which I believe will happen.
The FA gods giveth in 24 and taketh away in 25
I agree about KAM timing...I suspect there was a singular event that pushed this over the edge vs whats been portrayed by ownership.
Moving on to 26 now...
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
Vikes making the necessary moves, now
extend AVG, O’Neil, Brandel,
Restructure Greenard, jets
Cut Ryan Kelly( if he doesn’t retire). It’s time to play Jurgens or Brandel, you can’t have an all star at every position
We need starters from this draft. I’m hoping we trade down far enough to land 2 top 50 picks cause that’s where the value in this draft is 20-50. There are 2 starter/impact rotational guys in that range
Not sure if we'll seize them, but since this seems to be the year the Vikings get an extremely rare opportunity to redeem a past mistake, could we correct the mistake we made by trading Harrison Phillips for a bag of Chewy Nerds?
He's not a free agent, but these are some pretty caustic comments he made about the Jets a couple weeks ago...
“I think Aaron Glenn inherited a very cancerous, truculent group — whole, top to bottom. It’s not individual people’s fault. I was there for one season — it was a very difficult season — and I almost wanted to waver on some of my thoughts and my beliefs and my optimism.”
“So, I can’t imagine being there for year after year after year after year and not seeing the results that you wanted, and it tainted people. Because my coach is going to get fired, my teammate’s going to get fired, I’m going to be a free agent, I might get fired, I have to play for me, I have to make sure my tape is hot regardless of what the system is asking me to do, what the scheme is telling me to do.”
“Then, young players come in and see, ‘Oh, that’s my vet, that’s how they’re acting, so that’s the way I’m going to act, too.’ It’s a long chain of things, and it can’t be fixed like that.”

That's a wild statement to make.

Well at the time, we were giddy as hell about them opening the pocketbook and beefing up both the OL and DL in particular.
None of us anticipated the rash of injuries (or lack of production on the interior DL)
At the end of the day, this is what Brez does best.
Let him show us how its done when he's in control.

Redmond is clearly one IDL starter now.
Levi DR (with a nonstop motor that reminds me just a bit of old UDFA John Randle...you mighta heard of him)
Look at LDR's entire football history from grade school to his journey to college to the NFL. What's not to like about this guy and his motor:
Rodriguez initially received little attention as a prospect for the NFL draft, but began getting noticed after being named the most valuable player of the Tropical Bowl with 3.5 sacks, and having an impressive pro day performance. Clint Dolezel said that, of Rodriguez's pro day performance: "He freaking dominated. Smaller guys in his position were fatigued and struggling towards the end. He finished and he says, 'That's it?'" He weighed at 290 pounds (130 kg) in college but began adding weight with what The Athletic described as a "eat-as-much-as-humanly-possible diet", as he was considered small for a defensive tackle. He had added 7 pounds (3.2 kg) by the time of the Tropical Bowl and was 306 pounds (139 kg) by the time of the draft.
Prior to the 2024 NFL draft, Rodriguez was chronicled anonymously by The Athletic as their yearly "Prospect X" – identifying the "most overlooked player" in the draft. He was ultimately selected in the seventh round (232nd overall) of the draft by the Minnesota Vikings.[1
