2026 Free Agency and Draft: QB
Probably won't draft one, but the QB we choose to come in and compete with JJ McCarthy could be the most pivotal decision the Vikings will make this offseason. It's also possible JJ McCarthy's improvement will render this decision moot? Meanwhile, Derek Carr's brother throws out a little purple and gold chum...
Derek Carr clears up a few internet rumors on his potential return. Says he won’t come back for just anyone.

1) He has to be healthy.
2) The team must have a real shot at the Super Bowl.

Former Penn St. QB Drew Allar, who has recovered from season-ending ankle surgery, will throw this week at the scouting combine in Indianapolis.
Allar's definitely more "toolsy" than Brosmer. If he's still on the board in the 5th round, I'm getting real interested.

I think Allar is a good fit for the Rams. If they feel he can do well with development, I think that could be a great landing spot.

Seems to be "mutual interest" between Richardson and the Vikings. But man, I have a hard time seeing this one. AR is a specimen, and the upside is tremendous. But he's just as unproven and just as much of a question mark as JJ is at this point. What did Brzz say the other day? We're looking for someone to give us "baseline QB play." Veterans like Cousins, Carr, Geno can pretty much guarantee that baseline. I don't think AR can.

Totally agree. This is just one of the vast rumors out there as we all knew there would be.
Nope, he's not checking the boxes for QB2 here...Never say never, but I dont know if I can see my way clear of him getting a roster spot in Mn anymore.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

But could he be a part of the qb room for a 5th pick. Still need a #2 but having a second developmental qb. Only bad thing bringing Jones in was he left before JJM was ready. AR is 23 years old, younger than Nix was when he started his career.
Another insider, this time @DanGrazianoESPN, saying the #Vikings are expected to have interest Geno Smith and Kyler Murray if they are released. Minnesota would ideally go after both for the league minimum salary:pic.twitter.com/JDN0wLQCXZ

Going to plug Haynes King again.Fran the Tark once opined (on QB prospects) … can he play?
A poster I respect from PT MSP0818, similarly opined on ‘production’. Meaning if a prospect had a history of production, you KNEW what you were getting.King is projected late rnds/udfa.
Roll the die on him. Already has beat Maye, head to head.https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Haynes-King-QB-TexasAANDM
His Georgia Tech tenure has been defined by clutch performances and record-breaking production across two seasons. King's game-winning touchdown pass to Christian Leary with one second remaining against No. 17 Miami in 2023 stands as one of the most memorable moments in recent Yellow Jackets history, while his four-touchdown passing display in a comeback victory over No. 17 North Carolina showcased his ability to rise to the occasion against ranked competition. The quarterback's 2023 season rewrote multiple school records, including most touchdowns responsible for in a single season (37) and second-most total offense (3,729 yards).
King's 2023 breakout campaign put him in rarified air - joining LSU's Jayden Daniels as the only Power Five signal-caller to eclipse 2,800 passing yards, 25 touchdown passes, 700 rushing yards, and 10 rushing touchdowns. That production earned him honorable mention All-ACC honors and the unwavering respect of teammates who voted him permanent captain.
King runs 6th fastest QB forty ever, 4.47.
Solid combine overall.

He's a real ramblin' wreck. That speed shows up in games too. Could be a Taysom Hill type dart throw on day three or after the draft.
According to Todd McShay, there are "mixed messages" in league circles that the Vikings might "be in" on Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.
I don't see it, but take it for what you will.

If true, this is likely the Vikings trying to induce a trade up. And I doubt anyone buys it.

I can't 100% rule anything out, but I'd be surprised. Very. To me, he's very average in a lot of ways and he's developmental. KOC would rather stick with a higher ceiling, more athletic guy with a bigger arm like McCarthy if he's going to develop someone.

? The #Packers #Rams and .#Vikings are linked to QB Anthony Richardson
I think they might just be riffing on old news. Can't imagine the Vikings would have much interest in Richardson now. We maybe need a QB3 upgrade, but if KOC really wants to help Richardson, that's not much of a favor when he can probably get a QB2 job elsewhere.
Unless....hmmm....no I won't say it.
Maybe its just me....and my track record currently on young QBs (JJM) probably isn't stellar, lol....but I'm not a Ty Simpson fan. And I like Mendoza, but I don't love Mendoza. JMO but what a down year for QBs in this Draft. The national media is on the Mendoza bandwagon like he just came back from winning WW3, but I don't know.
