Flores Watch
I've seen a couple of these now and have yet to see Brian Flores's name on any of them. Not that he won't get an offer or at least an interview, but his name doesn't seem to get mentioned very much.

The Tennessee Titans announced Friday that general manager Mike Borgonzi will lead the team's search for a new head coach and manage the 53-man roster.
Meanwhile, Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker will remain in his current role and oversee the team's salary cap, research and development, and analytics.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Tennessee is set to conduct a coaching search that includes candidates such as former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula.
The Titans were reportedly interested in Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman as well, although Freeman ultimately announced that he would be returning to the Fighting Irish in 2026.
Brian Callahan served as Tennessee's head coach to open the 2025 season, but was fired and replaced by interim coach Mike McCoy following the team's 1-5 start.
The Titans sit at just 3-13 this year after wrapping up a 3-14 finish last season, experiencing issues on both sides of the ball. Tennessee ranks No. 30 in scoring offense and No. 28 in scoring defense among all teams in 2025.

McCarthy isn't getting that job if you look at the history of who the Steelers have hired in the past. They've been young, relatively unknown defensive minded head coaches, of which McCarthy is none. The Rams DC Shula has to be the odds on favorite with Flores probably being the second choice
If rumors are to be believed, and many times in these NFL HC hirings they are wrong, this thing has been all over the place. Now the rumor is they are interested in Mario Cristobal, lol. Also heard that Tomlin told a potential player FA to 'not sign with Pittsburgh', so.....who knows? Might be messy behind the scenes and candidates are being scared away to some extent.
I think Flores is still too rough around the edges to get another HC job.

Its probably my anti-GB bias, but he's over-rated imo..Most of his career was with Favre + Rogers (in their primes) and I saw how those same GB teams fall on their faces when he couldn't trot them out on the field.
He under-performed in Big D.
Either way, I dont think he's the lead horse for Pitt or they would have hired him already. Are the Rooneys waiting for someone still coaching in the playoffs????
I blame Dak Prescott more than McCarthy for any underachieving in Dallas. IMO the problem with accurately assessing the strength of a Cowboys roster is complicated by the insistence of the media to overhype Dallas because it moves the needle for engagement. ESPN even admitted that they do this for views.

Pretty much any HC who's coached for a long time with a winning overall record has had a decent QB. Tomlin had Big Ben, Harbaugh had Flacco and Lamar. Guys don't coach in the NFL for two decades without a QB. McCarthy got 12 wins more than once out of Dak who's hardly elite, but he's decent . And he got a SB out of Karen.

He's a good coach and obviously Pitt thought so as well.
