For the soccer experts I’ll like to get your opinion on what we can learn from the recent Bears revival.
Background:

  • Poles did not have a good season early in his bears career. Multiple questionable picks and he finally figured out. Monaghai, Loveland and that defense is legit. At one point it was rumored he was in the hot seat
  • The QB situation was a laughing stock last year and early this season. Caleb is playing well (whatever that means) and not putting the team in harm’s way
  • Ben Johnson and staff. When the season started they were in sixes and sevens and now they are on a 6 game win streak and about to beat the Eagles in Philly

So I am not sure if the answer is patience or clean house but I find it frustrating watching the Bears get better while we falter especially given the fact that we beat them in Chicago

Thoughts are welcome

I think its a little of both,  we need to clean house on our scouting/drafting department,  and allow what we do have to simmer a bit to see what we really have,  hoping that if they dont pan out that the new offseason team is able to use the draft picks better than the current group has.  I think our lack of depth and support players has been as much of an issue as our lack of competent QB play.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

I'm still not sure how real the Bears are or aren't. My $ is still on Lions or Packers to with the North.

But an impressive showing today.

Definitely trending in the right direction which is the opposite of the Vikings. Just another datapoint to add to our fan misery

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

it takes 3-4 years to clear a bad draft.

In 2025 we're seeing the 2021 draft play out

2022 kwesi first draft will be in full effect next year in 2026.

Translation= rough waters ahead

Their QB, after 29 starts, is playing better now. Ours, after 6, is not.  It really is no more complicated than that.

Honestly, Love had a much better game than Caleb...And thats a 5 year vet vs 1.5 year.

I honestly dont recall Caleb coming in with a lower floor than McCarthy - but he was also the #1 pick overall.

I'd have no issue still hoping for hope with JJM, if he would just show a modicum of progress - just a smidge.

He will. I just have my doubts we'll see it this year.

That would make for a long off-season unfortunately...Give me something good to chew on till the draft eh?

I (we) are deserved of that after this shitshow season to-date

I hope the kid can handle the speculation, stress and scrutiny that'll come with it.

Regardless of how Caleb played or didn't play, that was a huge franchise tilting type win for the Bears yesterday. Ben Johnson appears as advertised. For all those who bashed the Bears, their process, their GM (Ryan Poles sucks), how we feeling about things now? Especially in context of where we are at as a franchise four years later. We held on to older veterans, got a few regular season wins to appease the owners, but ultimately at what cost? We are farther away now from winning a playoff game then when Kwesi started four years ago.

Da Bears have had a top 10 pick in the draft the last 3 years including the No.1 pick in 2024. Let's see how well they draft now that they're picking in the 20's.

And they've had a top 11 pick in 8 of the last 11 drafts.

I'm not giving the Bears the benefit of the doubt...I think that win vs Philly was catching the Eagles at the right time and not a sign the Bears are a top 4 power in the NFC.

That said? Still an impressive win on the road.

Even more perspective. Easier sledding to pull some field-tilting talent when you continually draft in this area. Even when you fuck up royally like they did when they went up to get Trubinsky and gave up all that comp.

They've also made some smart trades that have aided in building their roster including the trade down with Carolina that landed them the #1 overall pick that became Caleb Williams. The breakdown of that trade went like this;

Panthers- Bryce Young
Bears- DJ Moore, Darnell Wright, Tyrique Stevenson, Caleb Williams, and Luther Burden

They've spent wisely in free agency solidifying the offensive line and building the defense. This is the big difference in ownership turning the reigns over to the person they hired and ownership saddling the new hire with this "competitive rebuild" bullshit. The Bears are now reaping the benefits of their rebuild plan
