I think we're in for some choppy seas the rest of the season. An entertaining and discomforting ebb and flow of highlights and lowlights.

But man, when that consistency arrives, and I think it will late this year, McCarthy's moxie, mixed with his arm and running ability, is going to make him hard to beat. Allen had three years with Daboll. McCarthy isn't likely to ever lose Kevin O'Connell. It's possible JJM and KOC will be tied at the hip for a decade. And that's a Tom Brady-like level of continuity that is going to make him tough to beat.

I agree with everything you say here....all of it. Including the chop. Need to pass around a little Dramamine for Viking Nation this year as the ups and downs might make some seasick. But a New World awaits on the horizon.

This might as well have been me posting...Well said!

Hang in there, everybody. Never had a feeling about a kid like I have with this guy. Saw it 2 years ago and the thought has never left. He's special.

Will Fries was just on the Ross Tucker podcast talking about JJ McCarthy: "It's real...the look in his eye doesn't waver from snap 1 to snap 65....The intensity, the moxie....you just BELIEVE that he can make something happen at any time....I think its the most real I've ever been around. He's so fun to play with, he just has a look to him and the whole team feeds off it".

That's pretty incredible praise and belief for a 22 year old QB.

Oh, I'm bought in. I'm hoping that all of the very hard lessons about QB protection (or lack thereof) and playing to dominate, not just to win, will benefit the young'un. As much as I like KOC, he's shown hesitance to put the teams' throat on opponents' necks while also sticking with slow-developing plays even as our QBs get pummeled.

These two lessons are as important as JJM's development, and are all tied together.

This past week has been about JJM's "Nine" persona, the hyper-intense side he lets out as needed. We've had some QBs that showed discipline and poise on an off of the field, gathered themselves before speaking into a mic, and were good representatives for the team at all costs.

JJM was a snarling, grinning beast going into that locker room post-game, and I think the team NEEDS that. The kid was still all "great team effort, still need to improve", etc, for the press...but, having a QB that's at least as wound up as anyone on the defense? That's excellent.

And this is what Justin Jefferson said yesterday, that he loves the '9' persona from JJ because he's got his own called 'Jets'....'you need to get yourself there' is how Jefferson put it. He loves JJM's fire and this is a direct quote: 'We don't need any more nice guys on the team. I love that dawg in him'.
