Its quite a hoot. Basically saying that Max Brosmer might pull a Brock Purdy on JJ like Purdy did Trey Lance. When you are out of sight and out of mind like JJM has been, its no holds barred. Enjoy and let the narratives begin! I love Max as well, but I guess not playing any real NFL games can make you Brock Purdy, but playing 2 real NFL games already makes you Trey Lance.
Also mentions Uncle Sammy and JJ not 'having a close relationship'. If true, I don't blame Sam or JJ. Darnold was trying to revive his career, not mentor McCarthy. And JJ was trying to learn and establish his own presence on the team as a rookie....he knew this was going to be his team. Not surprising.

"Internally, there have even been some comparisons with 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, a 2022 seventh-rounder who made Lance expendable after stepping in and performing well late in his rookie season."

Not to worry Sticky!  Coach has declared JJM is his starting QB.  I just hope KOC doesn't do another Wentz if our starter should happen to get injured some year down the road.  Go get em JJM!  Now is your time!  Your fans have been waiting, prove us right!

And you know for me , its not so much about JJ making it or Max making it, etc. Its always been we just haven't seen enough from McCarthy OR Brosmer to project anything yet. Bad or good. I just want to see McCarthy get in there and play....and in a way where he's not fighting for his life every pass play with a rush in his face. Then the coaches can decide. Its maddening how little we know about McCarthy as it stands today.

I was one of the last few guys defending KAM this offseason: I said we need to see more from his picks before I start bashing him. But now we have and I'm bashing him. If JJ goes tits up at some point in the future, I have zero problem admitting I was very wrong about his potential. But that time hasn't come yet by any stretch.

I could care less. I just want a starting caliber QB.

At the end of the day, I think this is every fan's wish. In 3 years, if its JJ, fantastic.....if its Max Brosmer, awesome. McCarthy just has more athleticism, arm, etc. and things HCs covet from a modern NFL QB so ideally it would be him. But you can be successful without those attributes, its just more rare. I said several months ago that Brosmer reminded me of Brock Purdy lite, actually compared him that way. But I'm not crowning anyone and understand that Brosmer has a LONG way to go to determine anything. JJ is going to get his shot first and foremost and that's where the team's current focus is and should be. The rest of it will all come out in the wash.
