Wentz QB1 vs PHI, Brosmer QB2
McCarthy emergency 3rd QB. Blake Brandel starting at C.
Per KO.
KO kept saying JJM is progressing, etc... Didn't say whether he was talking about the injury or rookie struggles. Hmm.
EDIT- Okay at the very end of the presser O'Connell did refer to getting JJM where they want to get him at, "health-wise".
Armchair take- I'm sticking with my prediction that JJM starts against the Chargers. TNF homefield advantage is massive and the Chargers are a good but not elite team. It's a decent spot to get him back out there. But in reading the tea leaves (can't believe I'm saying this...), I think whether or not we see McCarthy in six days hinges on how well Wentz acquits himself against Philly. Wild times in Vikingland as always.
QB3 doesnt sound like a lot of progression at first blush...
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Would you consider it a progression if we went from "JJM's too injured to take the field, and Cam Akers is our emergency QB" to "He's less injured and now can take the field in an emergency capacity"?

The progression was referring to how far JJM is or isnt in his come-back...A tell to me was whether he was QB2 or 3 this week.

That says a lot that he is not even the #2 this week. There was some speculation not until after the Chargers game, could be latter than that.
When we take the field Sunday, from Kwesi's drafts, out of the 28 players taken, if Jackson plays, we will have 2 starters and less than half of them on the current roster. Taking into consideration the bad trades and the picks we gave away to get Turner, it is just amazing draft record.

KAM's drafts have stunk but I'm more concerned with our actual record rather than our draft one. Could be 4-2 after Sunday.

That's fair. Probably means he's too injured to really do much, so not sure why they let all this speculation build up if he wasn't really that close.
I'm now choosing to believe the random redditor's friend that JJM couldn't walk up the hill convincingly. He's probably still a couple weeks out.

yeah there is no way he plays against the Chargers on a short week.

Nope...Looks like at Lions (11/2) would be his first shot back.
Not an easy first game lol!

Lions have a bye the week before too. And while they're secondary is banged up and playing like shit right now (rank bottom third in pass defense), they should at least be healthy by this game.
Eagles and Chargers are not at all the teams we thought they'd be, so those are definitely winnable games. It would be nice to hand a 5-2 team over to the kid.

If we are 5-2, I doubt they make that his return game, to much on the line season wise becuase at that point we are in the running for top billing in the playoffs and that would be a ton to put on JJM IMO.
I still think we need to get him back out there sooner than later, but I dont want to see him trying to knock the rust off against a top D with home field hanging in the balance. Best thing would be if we could get sizeable lead in a coming game and give him a few series to see how he looks with minimal pressure and then make the decision. Wont likely happen, but I think it would be a nice way to re-immerse him back into the offense.

I think when he's 100% healthy he goes back in, and I don't think it matters who we play, where we play them or what our record is. If we keep waiting for the perfect opponent or situation, it will never come.
I think the only thing that might change that is Carson Wentz catching fire and playing out of his mind over the next couple weeks. Could happen, but based on what we've seen so far, it's not very likely.

I dunno, that seems like a better game to sneak the kid back into, vs either PHI or DET. I think that would be a less daunting game to get him back into the lineup.
Having him come back against the Lions (or the defending champions) both seemed like rough options.
KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

I think the decision is solely on when is he physically ready, not who they play.
For me, the Chargers game makes sense from the standpoint of a mini-bye afterwards given its a Thursday nighter.
But I dont think KOC places much of a premium on that.

The #Vikings will start Carson Wentz at QB today, and that may be the case next week, as well. Minnesota won’t make a long-term QB decision until JJ McCarthy is healthy.

At best he’ll start 12 out his first possible 35 games (including playoffs).
