This is what it would take to fire Penn State HC James Franklin
"That means to fire him during this season, Penn State would need to pay him $56 million (including what he's already been paid to this point). If the school chooses to wait until after this season, but still wanted to fire him prior to the 2026 campaign, it would have to pay him $48 million.
That makes Franklin one of the most expensive coaches in college football to fire, and would require Penn State to fundraise a massive amount of money to both pay Franklin's buyout and hire another coach to what figures to be a similar contract."
You get rewarded for being a shit coach and getting fired, that's what these ridiculous buy-outs on these guaranteed contracts means. Its such a ludicrous amount of money, it kind of stops making sense at some point. And in the aspect that these rich alumni give all this money for reflected glory is even more ludicrous. Its worth it for some kind of social capital in their circles? Pathetic.

A few of our younger friends here send their kids away to college for no reason other than they want them to experience a 'different part of the country'. Although every year they go on 2 vacations somewhere around the world since they've been 8 years old. Like for instance: one went to the University of Northern Colorado. Paying out of state tuition. Why? No reason whatsoever, other than its not south Florida and they can tell their friends she's 'away at college'. lol. Meanwhile there are certainly as good or better options within 150 miles of here. And cheaper. And they LOVE to take their babies on the 'school tours' around the country....and then sign on to Florida Atlantic University.
. Students want shiny new buildings and amenities.
