Geno Smith stats from last night/Jeanty
And Ashton Jeanty, the supposed next 'great' generational RB? 11 carries for 43 yards...he's now averaging 2.7 yards a carry. This guy never blew me away. Where's the great RB from this class that some were fretting about not getting?? Might be Trent Richardson/Ki-Jana Carter territory for Jeanty.
MaroonBells wrote:Much like many fans online with JJ McCarthy ;) Yeah, of course there's a whole season ahead. But when did we wait for generational talent to show itself at RB in the NFL? Never? Just sayin'.
Ya think you might be overreacting just a TEEENSY bit after two weeks?
TreVeyon Henderson yesterday: 11 carries, 28 yards. 3.4 yard average for the year. O TDs. Jeanty averaging 3.1 yds per game.
Where all the 'great' RBs from this class at??

MaroonBells wrote:Ha ha, yeah I kid but they do need some more time to see what's what. I'm just being naughty poking the 'we need a RB' crowd during the Draft a bit.
Honestly, I don't ever remember a RB class where this many rookie RBs are getting meaningful snaps. If only the season were longer than 3 weeks, we might get a chance to see how they play once they know on which side of the QB to take the handoff.
MaroonBells wrote:The team ran for 169 yards yesterday....where's the need again? And Tuten is averaging 3.5 yards a carry....both Akers and Scott beat that average yesterday alone. Don't see the need unless you somehow want to see the need.
We did. And still do. I'd love a Tuten in place of Akers behind Mason instead of whatever we're getting from Tai Felton. I'd also love a JCM in place of whatever Bartholomew is doing for us.
MaroonBells wrote:Or this crop of RBs is ass. You can't seem to put that in your viewfinder. I'll be very happy to draft a RB high in next year's Draft and start him. 3 years to find out if a RB is any good? Pffft. Hell, why don't we just wait for a Barkley or Derrick Henry situation? Lots of options. One thing the team didn't need to do was draft a RB last Spring. And they didn't. Show me a good RB and I'll show you a good OL anyway. This goes down nicely: Sean Borman @SeanBormanNFL · 1h #Vikings RB Jordan Mason currently has the 2nd-highest PFF grade among running backs Through 3 games he has 214 yards on 40 carries (5.4 YPC) with 2 TD’s. 140 yards have come after contact
It's been argued "oh we'll just draft one next year," with the assumption that he'll be good to go, week one, 2026. I hope you can at least now see the folly in that idea.
Waiting for this 'generational' player to show up. Week 8....tick tock.

What would you say about a back who ranks 3rd in yards after contact, 3rd in forced missed tackles, 1st in broken tackles, and dead last in yards before contact?
I guess I'd say those are stats.....can I show you other stats that don't paint a very nice picture? He's a bigger back....and other than Derrick Henry, those types that go high can bust pretty well: Ki-Jana Carter, Ron Dayne, Tommy Vardell, Brent Fullwood, Alonzo Highsmith, Sammie Smith, Curtis Enis, Trent Richardson, etc. I pick on Jeanty because he was touted as generational.
Ah...I think I see your problem. You've never actually watched Ashton Jeanty, because if you're calling him a "bigger back," along the lines of Derrick Henry and Ron Dayne, I think there's a pretty good chance you either had too many at Crazy Uncle Mike's or you're confusing him with someone else.
lol, I wish!
He's 5'8", like 215 lbs correct? Bowling ball physique? Looks pretty stout on this picture. I mean the dude is SHORT and all thighs. He sure isn't a scatback or a long strider. Also never ran the 40 at the Combine, which I'm sure was smart on his part for draft positioning. He's not tall but he's thick as hell...I mean, he doesn't look big there? Its like saying Scottie Graham wasn't a big back because he was short. I included those other guys because they were drafted high and are bigger types.

Derrick Henry is 6-3, 250. Ron Dayne was 5-10, 245. Curtis Enis was 6-0, 250. At the combine Jeanty measured 5-9, 211. That's Dalvin Cook size.
lol, gotcha. Listen, I'm not going to debate with a guy who thinks Dalvin Cook and Jeanty are the same body types. Its silly. Below is from a NFL draft profile who compared him to Steven Jackson. All of these weights and such, we know change when they hit the NFL. Cook lost a little muscle mass after he got drafted and Jeanty is built like a brick shithouse.
Strengths
Impressive size with a girthy, muscular upper body and strong, stallion-like legs. Weighed 215 pounds, but at 5-foot-9, carried it like a typical 225-pound back.
You know who this guy is? Hint: it's not Derrick Henry.

Dude ;) We'll just agree to disagree.
