Benching JJ? Is it really the ankle

Wentz or Brosmer if JJ can't go?
Doubtful, but I'd like Brosmer to get the nod.
I don't think they'd make up an injury, nor do I think they'd bench McCarthy after 2 games, considering how he came back against the Pats in joint practices and then again in the Bears game. But the Wilfs spent truckloads of money on this roster. I'm sure they're not pleased with the results. Is this another 1998?

Teams don’t bench their first round rookie QBs after 2 games. It just doesn’t happen. No owners are pleading to shit can the guy they spent so much draft capital to go get and the Wilfs aren’t a win now franchise.
Carson Wentz isn’t taking us to the SB and he’s been here what like 3 weeks?
If this is true, I would guess this is out of an amount of precaution in not trying to break your rookie QB before they can get their feet under them. JJM isn’t seeing the field great as it is, so why compound that with being immobile, and why compound it with like half the team being injured.

He's hurt, end of story. I agree- Zero % chance this is a covert benching. Schefter's tweet hit right about the time I had moved past last night's debacle. Definitely a, "Well, it could always be worse..." moment. Narrator- It got worse.

I don't think they would bench him either, but are they using the injury as a reason to sit him for a bit and take the edge off. Just seemed like his ankle sprain wasn't bad enough to pull him from the game, one would think declaring it this early in the week seems a bit suspect.

I still can't accept they would bench him, but if you want to go down that road, one thing to consider is that they may also want to get their franchise QB out of harms way until Darrisaw and Kelly return so the kid isn't torn apart either physically or emotionally. Skule is a turnstile and Jurgens had a few snapping issues. Too much of that can damage a young QB.

High ankle sprains can take some time to heal, let’s see what ya got now KO’C. If you can get Wentz to play well, then I will be impressed!
You actually heard HIGH ankle sprain? I consider myself an expert on the subject having sprained one ankle or the other about 11 times. There's definitely a difference. If it's a high ankle sprain I would expect his timeline to be more like 4-6 weeks.

Ok, bench is not the right word. My premise is what you are saying. Offense has been a hot mess, JJ is getting killed with Skule in there. The ankle was an easy excuse to sit JJ until Darrisaw is back and hopefully the pressure settles down.
Not saying that is the case, but that injury report came on Monday rather than the usual Wed.
Also, JJ is intense, a perfectionist. Perhaps he is pressing too much and KOC sees that. Dunno, just seemed like a quick announcement.
People are freaking out about a so-called benching and a fake injury. I don't believe either of these things to be true. He is hurt. And they are not benching him after 2 games. That is absolutely ridiculous. We need some healthy OL. We need a bat signal for Darrisaw. The defense has some injuries too. Play calling also has issues. Well I guess we see what happens with Wentz. I like Brosmer a lot, I have watched him a lot but Wentz would have to royally suck for him to go it. I just don't see it yet

Commanders announce Daniels has a knee injury, could miss this week, but they are taking it day to day and evaluating it. That certainly would be more of what I would expect for a guy who played the entire game and did not look hurt or affected in any way. Not saying it is not an injury, but seems odd they would state definitively he is will miss 2-4 weeks without seeing how it responds to treatment especially since this is only Monday.
I heard after the game, KOC said not on my watch, and went Tonya Harding on JJ

“O'Connell said McCarthy suffered the ankle sprain during a scramble on a second-and-20 play.”
Wasn’t every 2nd down, 2nd & 20?
Sure seemed so.
Social media really does cut across all lines.
Yesterday, I saw a Facebook post from SKOL.NORTH.

(SORRY, you need to cut and paste)
The gist of it is comparing JJ McCarthy's first two games to Jared Goff's first season...Bo Nix's first month last year, Josh Allen's entire first season.
I commented "Or Peyton Manning's first season"
My comment had one like.
Guess who?
Yeah, it was JJ McCarthy himself.

Oh boy. Cool that he liked it (if it was really him?), but the 2nd worst thing a young player can do is read social media posts. The worst is to actually engage with them.
But I agree with the gist of the post. It's WAY too early to make any kind of comprehensive judgement on JJ.
It's only two games but we have seen the potential he has. We all know he needs experience. I'm not one to make excuses for poor play but he has been under siege with almost no clean pockets. He had some in the 4th quarter against the Bears but not many others. Part of that is holding the ball and part of it is calling long developing pass plays. But few QB's would do well with the amount of pressure he faced. I think we will see a different JJ if they can get the entire O-line playing and they have a little time to gel. A little time off will give him and KO an opportunity to clean things up!

But...but...Twitter! Nothing people love more than conspiracy, I swear. Yes, we're 1-1, lets bench our rookie for a guy who's been with the team 3 weeks. A guy the team is committed to developing and needs reps desperately more than anything else. Its dumb but it won't stop some fans from believing what they'd like to, which is what they'll do anyway regardless. What I love is when the crazies explain their theories in what they think is a coherent and tangible way, that 'something doesn't make sense' to them, lol (I'm speaking about Twitter/online fans, not on the board. Its crazy out there).
They wrapped it last night and in typical ankle sprains, it hurts a ton worse the next day. I sprained my ankle during a 3-on-3 Gus Macker basketball tournament, taped it up and played. The next morning it was throbbing, black and fully swollen. Dr. said I was an idiot and could have done permanent damage.
Lol. These have to be the same people freaking out about his fiancee being pregnant and they were living in sin. Then the wave of congratulations rolled in once Rome appeared.
I am manifesting a defensive feast for Sunday. LFG
