Who approved this kind of change? Talk about abandoning key brand assets....

Sheesh.

On Tuesday, the Southern-inspired casual dining chain unveiled a new logo “rooted even more closely to the iconic barrel shape,” but without the barrel itself — a central part of the brand’s identity since 1977. (As for the the barrel itself, it was “essentially the water coolers of the day,” Cracker Barrel explained in a blog post.)

Shares of Cracker Barrel (CBRL) nosedived more than 12% in trading Thursday.

The identity refresh also includes new TV commercials, a redesigned menu and several new fall-themed foods, part of a larger $700 million transformation plan to shake off its stodgy image and lure in new diners.

“The way we communicate, the things on the menu, the way the stores look and feel … all of these things came up time and time again in our research as opportunities for us to really regain relevancy,” said CEO Julie Felss Masino in 2024.

As someone that doesn’t live in cracker barrel country and has no affiliation to it at all, that second logo looks like the most cheap and soul-less possible option. That looks like a logo for a kiosk in an airport, where you get a prepackaged, flavorless sandwich, on the go, not a sit down restaurant that is supposed to serve you actual food.

But I do find it interesting, how so many companies in the Hollywood sphere, feel so compelled to take everything people know and love about their brands, eliminate that, and replace it with something different.

Sarcasm? I sure hope so. Companies refresh and modernize their logos all the time. I've done many of these refreshes myself, albeit for companies you likely haven't heard of. I'm doing one now. For example, Walmart has modernized their logo twice in the last 20 years. That this move by Cracker Barrel is controversial, political or somehow an example of "wokeism" is ridiculous.

The things people choose to get all hot and bothered by is out of control. But if you can convince millions of Americans who crave victimization that this is a "woke" move, then you have an army of morons who will cancel Cracker Barrel, just like they did Bud Light. And THAT is what the stock market is reacting to.

It's kind of awesome when the woke movement now wants to disguise itself and say it's not woke. That's the ugliest logo ever, and it appears to add black lettering in place of brown. The fact that you did refreshes helps your argument how exactly?  There would have been many ways to update the logo, but it's all just in our heads that woke people are trying to send a woke message. lol  Your side taught the right all about cancel culture and now you're whining about it.

LOL, look around dude.  No Kings?  Really?  The singing and cussing on social media and protesting in the streets.  People screaming at the top of their lungs, cutting off their hair, burning flags, displaying nazi symbols, accusing every Trump supporter of being fascist, etc.  You guys have lost your f..king minds and you're brilliant enough to post what you just did?  You ask this question seriously?  Really?   Time to go back to your bunker my friend.  lol  You can't make this shit up.

If it upsets you or makes you sad, you should probably find a support animal or a designated safe space where everybody knows their pronouns and wears their privilege as a badge of honor.

Yep...the Left NEVER demonstrates fragility.

Both sides do it.  Ask Sydney Sweeney and her great jeans.

Has anyone been to a Cracker Barrel in the last 10 years.  Anybody?  Bueller?

Always the victim. Why you don't see through this is beyond me.

So if you think this is a woke move and not just a simple logo modernization that every company does every so often, explain to me how. Does it now appeal more to gays? Trans people? Immigrants? Or is it just a recognition that their clientele is aging and dying off and this just an attempt to tweak their antiquated brand in an attempt to appeal to a wider, younger audience?

Either way, I'm sure "victim" America will now cancel them and start shooting up Cracker Barrel billboards and the company will be forced to change their logo back. Go woke, go broke, right? It will be a great victory for morons everywhere.

By woke I am assuming you mean awake, meaning conscious, considerate of others, aware of the world around you, empathetic, kind, committed to making a positive difference in the world.  As opposed to being afraid of anything that is not in your limited space so you have to put labels on it to justify not making an effort to face your fears.

Hey, Badger. Offer still stands. Next time you go to Temple, greet everyone with a Roman salute. I’ll pay both your medical and dental deductibles. Just send video proof.

Dude, I don't really give a shit other than calling a spade a spade.  It is a trend to lose white man from advertising.  Does it appeal to you more?  Look at the logo.  I could design that damn thing and I have zero artistic ability.  But white man is removed.  Mission accomplished.  There is nothing "modern" about that logo, whereas the old one had iconic going for it.  Modernization comes through the menu and slow changes to the atmosphere, not through an iconic logo for a store known as an icon.

I don't think it's a big deal but directionally this was a move towards woke.  Now with Bud Light and Jaguar, that's on a whole different level.   Maybe Cracker Barrel can bring in the male Viking cheerleaders that weren't meant to send a message either.  lol

LOL.  I love when the 5% wants the 95% to be considerate of others.   More virtue signaling in your message than I really care to correct.  lol   You're the ones that fear has overridden.  The right is enjoying throwing the woke bs right back in the faces of people who don't understand the degree of their own hypocrisy.

The label you are putting on not-woke is the same reason most people now find woke unfavorable.

Maybe only kittens and babies. But even kittens and babies aren't constantly whining about mask displays at Target, Oreos, M&Ms, Disney, Mr. Potatohead and my personal favorite, Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Just proved my point.  You still on that?  Too funny.  Talk about fragility.

If I did the Roman Salute...I'd have to go full Musk and say "My heart goes out to you" at the same time like he did.  Funny, you always forget that point as well as the point that Musk has repeatedly said he's "Jewish by association" and "aspirationally Jewish" in the context of discussions about antisemitism.  But sure, the Nazi thing is totally believable...again...not sure how I didn't see it before.

Speaking of safe spaces, I assume you're still a regular on Bluesky?  Has it got any better.  I quit going there.  The hard left didn't have anybody to argue with so they started to eat their own.  Lots of virtue signaling going on bordering on insanity.  I assume Truth social is the same way though I've never signed up there.

I do find it interesting how unaware both sides of these culture war topics are to that they are exactly the same as the side they are fighting.

This is my favorite video on the topic:

Labels, yep. 20 years ago the label was "political correctness," a thousand years ago they called it "chivalry," two thousand years ago they called it "grace." There are now a wide assortment of talking points passed out with marching orders among the army of morons on the right. "Virtue signaling" is my current favorite.

This is a term devised by a British wingnut to marginalize those who actually care about other humans on the planet. It's been adopted by the American right. They can't figure out why people care about people in "shithole" countries like Gaza, and so now they have a term to dismiss those people. They don’t give a shit about people in Syria and so now they have a term to dismiss them. They don’t even give a shit about poverty in their own country. And because they don’t, they can’t fathom the idea that some do...that it must be fake. Or signals of virtue.

White man? LOL. My goodness, you are so vulnerable to this shit. I know you're not the smartest guy on the planet, but think about why you've been led to believe this. That's a good place to start.

The brand is tired, the stores are run down, the food isn't very good (I speak from experience), the customer base is aging and sales are flat at best.

But I didn't know such a boring rebrand of a ho-hum to begin with corporate logo could inspire the hot and bothered lunacy in this thread.   Invest your passion in something that matters cuz this doesn't.   Adios amigos.
