I think this is good for our comp formula, is it not? Also, many speculating that AR will be with another team by week one. Can KOC fix him?

Good for Jones. He made the right decision choosing Indianapolis over us. If he can somehow win there, the Manning Media Empire will be sure the world hears about it. I think the Colts are a bad franchise but I'll be rooting for Jones to succeed. Dude went through the ringer in NY.

It looks like Jones made the right bet for this season, good for him. I hope that our QB2 situation gets a good solution ASAFP, though, as currently our assumed backup looks terrible and our UDFA local boy is winning the "scrubs Olympics" for our team.

KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

From AI:

The Minnesota Vikings are projected to receive a compensatory draft pick in the 2026 NFL Draft for quarterback Daniel Jones. The specific round of the pick is still uncertain, but it will likely be in the fourth or fifth round, depending on Jones' playing time with the Indianapolis Colts. If Jones plays less than 60.6% of the Colts' offensive snaps, the Vikings will likely receive a fifth-round pick. If he plays more, it will be a fourth-round pick.

Me:

Trent Sherfield could land the Vikings a third comp pick in the 7th round. Not sure what the criteria are for that but he's been getting raves in Denver.

Love this kind of move, picking up a guy end of season with the knowledge of a likely comp pick. Props to Kwesi for this one.

Special teams ace and depth wideout Trent Sherfield has been identified as the potential game-changer. He signed a two-year deal with the Broncos, and his annual salary of $3 million is right around the cutoff (for a 7th round comp pick). But he has some incentives that can unlock even more cash.

Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling noted on social media, “Sherfield’s incentives are quite reachable in 2025. He gets $500K for 40% of the Broncos’ snaps, and another $500K for 30 catches. Essentially, if he becomes WR3, he could earn another $1 million, which would qualify this year.”

Im still in the Camp that Jones should have stuck around one year in Minnesota. Rebuild himself learn from KOC, reinvent himself like Darnold. Then go get your bag. Instead I expect him to under perform struggle with Indy then no one will look his way again unless it's strickly back up roles.

Yeah, very slick move. You can't even say it was good ROI because there was literally no investment. It was a win/win for us. He was either going to be our backup in 2025 or give us a comp pick. He cost us nothing, signed for peanuts, was made active for the final game which qualified him for the comp formula, and now we'll have two 3rds and likely two 4ths in the next draft. Well played.

I see the logic,  but how much does being JJMs back up elevate his stock?  unless JJM were to fail or get injured again, Jones doesnt see the field,  doesnt put anything of value on tape,  and is still the NY bust.  Simply being exposed to KOC's tutelage wouldnt likely have backed up any more brinks trucks, I dont know that Indy was the best destination for his development,  but it certainly was a spot that allowed him to compete for the starting job,  which there were only a few options there.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Most NFL QB's don't play all 17 games. So he would have had an chance to shine here. If you are talking about money and opportunities staying 1 year here would have paid dividends. His agent could have spun it to the media how much he learned blah blah blah. Now its sink or swim for Jones. Personally I hope it work for him. Just don't see it

Wow, quite the indictment of AR...Thats as newsworthy as DJ named the starter.

Smart of the Colts to keep AR as QB2 - they can continue to pump air in those tires and see if they hold anything.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Agreed  \

Far from certain but   it could turn out that  AR moves to Vikings in 2026r and does QB rehabilitation school same as DJ could have done this year.

I dont believe DJ needed more maintenance did he? Or a lesser check to be here?

He got a bag and a starting job again.
