If you're seeing this on Purple Persuasions Twitter, you're seeing this quote from PA on KFAN. Before this get out of hand, here's the quote.

What do you do with Dallas Turner? I'm just going to lay it out like that. What do you do with Dallas Turner? Where do you play him? How much do you play him? Do you care that he was a first round pick? Do you care that Gabriel Murphy is outperforming him in training camp and the Texans game? Do you care that O'Connell came into the Texans game really, really excited to watch the Dallas Turner performance? And I certainly can say the HC of the Minnesota Vikings thought it was a bad performance. I wouldn't know. I just know that there wasn't a lot said about the old 15 after the Texans game, and there was a lot said about 59. So that would be, I guess that would be the potential proverbial dark cloud on the horizon.”

The operative part here is "can say." But I listened to the audio and the context makes it very obvious he's saying "can't say."

If Gabe Murphy is outperforming him, then good for the team. We need players, no matter where they come from.

As to Turner, have heard lots of good things from him, from the coaches, from JG and others. Guess those all can be ignored because Gabe had a good preseason game.

If Turner can develop some power moves it would be to his advantage. I think he will be good but it would be nice to see something from him in the pre-season. I would give him a lot of snaps in the next game.
Not sure I put much stock in what Paul Allen has to say!

If you watched the draft day video, Kwesi asked whether O'Connell wanted Turner or "some other defensive player (likely Verse). O'Connell went with Turner. Hope he doesn't regret it because we gave up a lot for Turner.

Turner didn't have an impact game, but we also didn't have over half our starting defense in there from the start.

Also I'm pretty sure Turner was pulled after one or two defensive series so not sure how he was supposed to have a gaudy stat game.

If Murphy can sustain this level of play with the big boys come the regular season, we'll be in a great spot despite losing Pat Jones. Being 4 deep at pass rusher is HUGE

Gabe Murphy had a really good partial pre-season game, particularly on the stats sheet.
But keep some perspective here...
Murphy dominated during his time on the field and caused many fans to be aware of him with 5 quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks and 1 tackle-for-loss, according to ESPN.
His sacks were, I believe, on fourth-stringer Kedon Slovis. Starter CJ Stroud did not play.

Perspective...

I wonder if Flores would consider using Turner as more of a freelance pass rusher, especially on downs where both Greenard and Van Ginkel are in there and he's the extra guy. Let him roam and look for openings and weaknesses to exploit. Von Miller used to do this.

I just don't think you can take much from any of this stuff. I know the online podboys love to create storylines to prop up engagement, but we'll only know when the games are real. NFL coaches have finally learned not to put their starters at as much risk during camp and play them less. These joint scrimmages years ago were just injury-fests for both teams, now its much lighter work.

PA loves his share of drama.

I'm sure that is part of the scheme.
Can you imagine an obvious passing down (3rd and 12), and a D line made of Hargrave, Allen, Van Ginkel, Greenard and Turner being let loose?

I'm not worried about Turner. I think we are going to see big jumps this year in opportunity and production. If there are still questions at the conclusion of the season, then I'll worry

It's going to happen and that's where he will shine!

I've been a Dallas Turner skeptic more than a supporter thus far, but like you mention, there's nothing to be worried about right now. Need some live games to evaluate.

Yes he did not get a sack or get to the QB. However he got a tackle on the RB (I think on first play). But the key point is this… he played one series (9 snaps I think)!
So talk about overblown nothing.

Pretty sure mblack was referring to Turner's snap count in the preseason game.
