Pulling for the new backup RB

Definitely worth the read. Seems like one of those that won't stop working, Theilen, CJ Ham, Metellus type of vibes. Rooting for him to take that 3rd spot.
Not sure who I am pulling for more...Zavier or his lovely wife.
That Treyveon Henderson guy sure looked good in his debut. Still not convinced he wasn't the best player on the board when we were on the clock

He went 12 spots after us, so we could've traded down twice, picked up more draft capital and still got him. He's looked spectacular this summer. Not complaining one bit about the Donovan Jackson selection though. Taking TE4 with our final pick instead of a back like Jacory Croskey-Merritt or Brashard Smith is one I will complain about. That's going to come back to haunt us.
Henderson's first NFL touch was a 100-yard TD. Here's another. Just unbelievable burst.
I’m so damn happy Treveyon Henderson is a New England Patriot. pic.twitter.com/6v7jlcIc4R

I like DJ but they could have had Henderson and eaten lots of cake too as you point out.
This may not rank up there with Warren Sapp, or maybe it could
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

My biggest complaint heading into the draft was that we had a historically deep and talented running back class and that the acquisition of Jordan Mason would move us off taking someone like Treyveon Henderson...and it did. Mason is a good player, but Henderson had the ability to be elite and I know myself and several others here viewed him that same way. He could have been our Jahmyr Gibbs. I was okay with the Donovan Jackson pick, but would have given Henderson the nod on draft day.

RBs have such a short shelf life, fix that OL first and then go looking for the RB IMO, it seems like there are quality RBs in every draft.

Certainly was all for fixing the offensive line, however when you have the ability to give our young quarterback a field shifting offensive weapon late in the first round of a draft which that player really had no business even being there at that point and was only there because of the talent pool in the draft, that's the direction I would have went. Don't care if the shelf life was only going to be five or six years. That's five or six years of big play ability that opposing defenses have to account for. I think most of us saw that with Treyveon Henderson.
I wouldn't trade a hole in the interior line for a running back with the first pick when you already have two good running backs.
Protect the young QB first then address other needs. I think we will see a running back drafted next year. But I don't favor using a first round pick on one. Especially in KO's system.

— Kasey Hudson (@TheSportsKase) August 8, 2025I love Jackson as you know. Really wanted him. Won't bitch about that. I will agree that we should have went RB since we ultimately got my guy Yurosek as well. Hindsight I guess
I like this guy. Good vision, good power, good speed, can catch. Chandler has his work cut out for him. Check out Jurgens as well.
End zone view of #Vikings RB Zavier Scott's 51 yards from scrimmage on 8 touches against the Texans.

Yes, build the OL and then any decent RB will look good.

Both have some juice and picked up yards in the passing game, but Chandler looks like he runs into a brick wall inside whereas Scott finds those creases and cut back lanes.
I don’t think we’ll see the Vikings use a first round or high second round pick on a RB any time soon. The value just isn’t there. You’re just better off investing at any of the other positions of high impact (aka ones that cost a lot in FA and that have a long life span). Draft an OL, DL, WR, CB. Like there's always going to be a player available that is good and at a premium position. I'd make an exception for a Jeanty type guy that appears generational.

I think its his changes of speed he seems like he wants to run in little bursts, instead of balls out and then hard on the breaks like some backs, he sees a hole hits it then lets off, sees another crease hits it then lets off, until its time to just flat out get what you can or try for the edge/house then he gives what he can. allows blockers time to do their jobs without getting blasted from behind. One run I recall he was actually helping set up his block as he flashed one way and then ran off the blockers opposite hip basically creating the engagement. Things that are taught at the grade school level, sometimes that get forgotten as guys get older.

Probably true but it made him look a little tentative to me as he waited for the hole to open. The great ones hit the holes at full speed. I'm not a big fan of Chandler so hoping Scott or someone else take his spot.

I think the great ones show patience and let the hole develop before bursting through. Especially zone runners. In fact, I think hitting the holes at full speed before the hole is there has to be coached out of some young backs. I haven't seen enough of Scott to know how good or bad he is at any of this, but I was very impressed with his vision.

Barry Sanders.
Scott had good vision but the line gave him some good holes to run through as well. The problem is, appears Scott can't pick up the blitz any better than Chandler yet. At least he had a whiff in last weeks game.

well is anybody had troubles picking up the blitz for Cousins, its not getting any easier, SD moved around a little, but JJ looks like he is playing hide and seek back there, when he starts moving around its going to be really hard on the blockers since the D can watch the QB, the OL just has to try and react to what they cant anticipate.
