Vikings Got Lucky
How many of y'all had Lucky Jackson on your Mr. Mankato bingo card? He's definitely in the running.
#Vikings WR Lucky Jackson is the “leader in the clubhouse” for the one of the WR spots alongside Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Jalen Nailor and Tai Felton, per @alec_lewis.

Agree, always great to root for guys like this and would love to see him do well.
One of the guys I am most interested in seeing tomorrow is Felton, with not a lot of picks was surprised to see them go WR and really hope that we hit on this pick.

He's a hell of a story if you do a dive on him. Easy guy to root for.The Vikings seem to have a 'type' the last 3+ year with KAM and KOC: Around 6 feet tall, give or take, not small but not big. Leaner. Not slow but not speed burners either (except for Tai Felton, he'll be the fastest WRer on the team). No complaints from this fan on the brainpower selection at WRer for the team, but Minnesota has always been the gold standard historically for having great WRers.
If Lucky can step into situations that he's called on, which won't be many, and get open and catch the football....great. Its all about stepping up for the bottom of the roster when called upon.
the emphasis is on route running, precise depths, precision cuts, and catching the ball with the hands and not the body. you can draft speed, but you can take that away, you can draft size, but again can be neutralized fairly easily, but precision work and disciplined receivers can be about as close to impossible to cover as they come, as long as the QB is accurate and can throw with anticipation.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Couldn't agree more. Justin Jefferson is the prototypical Vikings receiver. I remember thinking in the 2020 draft that he wasn't the biggest, he wasn't the fastest, but he was versatile. And there was nothing he didn't do well. I'll take those guys over the height/weight/speed guys every time. People get infatuated with speed. Will Fuller. Where's he? Corey Coleman, John Ross, Ruggs, Williamson...it's an endless list.

All the WRer backups take one step forward as Rondale Moore is gone for the year. Guys are always going to get injured, so I try and mitigate it by assessing how important that particular person was/is to their positions: Moore's absence will not be a blow IMO.
I had to work yesterday, so I didn't see the game. Found Purple Insider on Youtube with a game summary and they teased "major injury news". I tensed for the worst, did a quick search and found out about Moore, and my first reaction was, "I thought they said major injury?" Yup, I'm going to hell
Moore has lived on IR since he came into the league. Hate to see the injury happen yesterday, but not completely unexpected either. I'm still not a big believer in this group behind the starters. I would not be opposed to us going out at this point in free agency and bringing in Amari Cooper or someone of that like.

Don't see us bringing in an aged vet. These guys are available for a reason. I think we would rather go with youth and take the learning curve to go with the juice rather than an old vet without any.
Sucks for Moore and the 3rd string center. Thankfully as was said above, doesn't move the meter from the team perspective.

Agree. Not many receivers are going to want to come to Minnesota knowing they'd be WR3 or even WR4 by week four. I think Nailor is ready for WR2 during Addison's absence. WR3 will either be Lucky Jackson or Tai Felton. In context with the rest of the NFL, that's not really that bad.
They may bring in another receiver, but I think it would more likely be someone on Rondale Moore's level.

I kind of wonder whether they'll bring Powell back for depth and as PR. He's still a FA.

I think if they do add a receiver, it would be a guy like Powell.

It would be nice if a guy like Silas Bolden could step up, but he had some nerves working in last Saturday's game. He's got similar skills to Rondale Moore, although smaller even but it all might be too much for him mentally right now.
From the local beat guys, he hasn't been very impressive... but they aren't coaches or scouts so take it with a grain of salt.

I'd say if we had a veteran quarterback it would make it a little easier to defer to the young unproven guys, but I wouldn't like McCarthy having to rely on Lucky Jackson and crew in real in game time situations. This is why I brought up at draft time that it wouldn't be a crazy "way out" idea to draft Emeka Egbuka or someone like that
