: "You know why I really like this pick? He's going to be a solid 10-year starter. Not sure he's elite, but he will make a few Pro Bowls and be a really good player for a long time."
Dependable, consistent and solid. A step below elite probably but a step above average definitely. A 'really good' player at OG for 10 years. He's not going to fuck up majorly. A guy that does his job every single game. Please and thank you.

Nothing to do with KAM and everything to do with the draft. Over half of the players taken in the 1st round of every draft is either a complete bust or fails to live up to expectations. There's a lot of gray in the data (what is a hit, what is a miss?), but according to Draft Wire, roughly 40% of 1st rounders get 2nd contracts with the team that drafted them.
It's why people should be happier about the 2023 draft than they are, and why I'll be stoked if Jackson simply defies the odds and turns into a competent starter.
The problem is this with KAM as of right now: the Vikings have the 2nd fewest starts (in the league) from rookies over the last 3 or so years. And its a problem that could start really hurting them as soon as next season. BUT....as mentioned previously, if he hits on JJM, Turner, Blackmon, Jackson and Felton we'll all have a good laugh at what we USED to think about his drafting in the future.

Between Kalil, Cleveland, Ingram, Elflein, etc. I think this fanbase has OL PTSD when it comes to draft picks. Even Darrisaw has gotten hurt every year of his career and might miss the start of this season.
Other than O'Neill, "stay healthy and doesn't fuck up" is something we haven't seen in a decade+ of OL picks.
Speaking of O'Neill, he's noticeably stronger looking in OTAs, not as lean. Bulkier. Arms look huge. He'll be 30 years old at the start of the season, but should have 3-4 more years left in him. I expect the line to be a level up in aggressiveness this season.
