Evidently the two targets of the assassin voted with Republicans to end free healthcare for illegals?   This may make it justifiable for some on this board.

I’m not sure what political affiliation this idiot is, but I pray to God they find him and stop further tragedy.   It’s a scary enough world we live in today.

The only way to get a budget deal passed this special session was for Hortman to cross party lines and vote for the removal of care for "undocumented" adults.

Otherwise the vote was split across party lines. It obviously pained her personally to do that.

Truth is, none of us know(yet) if that was even the main driver of the perp's actions. I dont think this is an instance of the Dems eating one of their own as some conspirators are pushing as real.

Time will tell...

Our reality (for now) is that there were almost 70 names in the perps manifesto, including abortion providers, pro-abortion rights advocates, and lawmakers in various states, CNN reported.

The suspects’ list targets prominent abortion rights supporters in Minnesota, according to an official who has seen the list. That includes many Democratic lawmakers who have been outspoken about supporting abortion rights policy positions.

Regardless of the perps political affiliation, sadly its just a continuation of the violent political history in the US.

Thoughts/Prayers to the victims and families/loved ones.

I’m glad they did that.  People are legitimately insane.

Nothing yet. They said they were searching a cornfield. The corn can’t be 6” tall yet so I have no idea how hard a cornfield search could be.

I’m sure you feel his actions were warranted. After all his victim voted to deny thousands of people health care with her vote.

How are the two situations all that different?  For somebody who wants to see it a certain way, both the CEO of the Insurance company and the legislator who decided to cut off health care for illegals cut off health care access for 1,000’s of people.  I think both views are stupid, but they’re not inconsistent.  Maybe people should think twice before making provocative statements that aren’t well reasoned.

So maybe that means you should check yourself since you repeatedly pop off with provocative statements.

2 people are dead and it's tragic. 2 people survived. This situation is absolutely heartbreaking. Using human beings as target practice is completely and utterly unacceptable. I hope they throw the book at the shooter

Yeah, but my provocative statements are backed up with logic and consistency which is the path logical arguments should follow.  I don't expect anyone / everyone to agree with me, but I think that once truth is revealed, people should own it, and when they've made stupid statements coming from a crazy POV, they should own it as well.  I'm not jumping out of my shoes to say this absolute nut job is a crazed liberal or a crazed right winger.  I think he's a lot crazed in general.  But, if his justification was the vote on the healthcare for illegals and even if not, people like AGR should be celebrating the fact that people preventing more people from being covered with healthcare were murdered.  If that sounds absolutely ridiculous, it's because it is and it was in the case of Luigi.

Have they not released who the others were?  I heard that report, but haven't heard which ones.

Hoffman and Hortman were not the suspect’s only targets that night, federal officials would later say – revealing he had been thwarted in his alleged attempts to attack two other lawmakers. After shooting the Hoffmans, he allegedly went to the homes of two other state lawmakers. The first, who lived in Maple Grove, was on vacation, said Thompson, the US attorney.

The suspect then went to New Hope, where he allegedly intended to attack a state senator. But a local officer dispatched to check on the senator encountered the suspect in his fake police SUV, Thompson said, believing him to be a legitimate officer. When the suspect refused to respond to the officer, she went to the senator’s home. The suspect left the scene, Thompson said, before going to the Hortman home.

It sure sounds like good policing prevented a far larger death toll on this one.

Without a doubt....That along with state coordination with The Feds, trail cam tech and then a women simply spotting him in the field while driving down a dirt road sealed the deal for SWAT.

they are very much different and one would have to be obtuse ( intentional or otherwise) to try and draw that comparison.

the issue is you trying to pick fights by putting words into peoples mouths,  that is not what this board is for so knock it off or I will have to remove you.

make your point,  counter others points with facts or opinions if you choose,  but all will do it with civility and respect towards the other posters or they themselves will no longer be posting here.

so I guess at this point... its your choice.  you can think however many times you choose to before making anymore provocative statements.

You can ban me if you need to Jimmy.  I don’t agree with what you wrote above at all, but it’s not life or death for me to be on the board either.

You dont have to agree with me or anybody,   you just need to be civil and adult about it and the shots you take lately, often fail to meet those benchmarks.

There is one point in Waterboy's post that is important. In this screwed up, hyper partisan climate, we have legitimatized acts of violence against those we disagree with. Mangione is a folk hero to many. His legal fund was at over $1M last I saw and growing. Those that contribute and support gunning down a husband and father because you don't agree with his decisions are truly messed up. We call the Floyd protests and current ICE protests / Kings protests "mostly peaceful". Destroying and looting and injuring / killing innocent people is not mostly peaceful. That's what happens when you invite the likes of Antifa to your party. I have friends in Madison that are angry, yes angry, that the would be Trump assassin missed his shot. I can't even get my head around the glorification and normalization of truly violent acts. That normalization likely further created an environment of acceptance for the Minnesota shooter (at least in his mind). Since none of us know what motivated that shooter, it's important that we find out what his motives and mental state were before we spend much time speculating.

You can't make this up.  We have UHC, signed up the day before the CEO go shot.  100% preapproved pediatric Vanderbilt heart clinic for my daughter.  EKG's, blood work, monitor, Dr visits, the whole nine yards.  Hours on the phone with Vandy and UHC before doing all this. Got the bills last night. UHC denied the entire thing.  FUCK UHC and everyone involved with them.  They are the most scummy corporation on the face of the planet.

I should have had about $250 in copays.  There was well over $3k in bills in my mailbox and I expect there to be many thousands more coming if they denied these first bills.

I'm going to make a contribution to Luigi's legal fund today.

Jimmy, you can read the last posts from badgerViking and AGR and maybe understand a little better where I'm coming from.  People will legitimize anything and that's sickening.

You're too informed to not know what motivated the shooter by now...That said, lets hear it directly from the perp.

Or "The Nightmare on Waltz Street" as some have childishly mused. Leave it to a rep in Washington to not seize the moment and rather use a cold blooded murder to continue the divisiveness and hate.
