I think he might've been squeaking a bit after his all pro year. The ROI on last year's middling contract was through the roof.

Whopper of a deal but yeah, allowing him to play this season with free agency looming would be a departure from how they've handled most recent contributors. Current GM aside, of course.

He's earned it and the Vikings did him a solid too...Two more years is about right.

If the Vikings (and the fan base) want to keep the constant love toward the team's culture rolling, then rewarding good play/players is part of the deal. Seeing it work out where results garner results is very reassuring...even though we'd love "bargain contracts" to allow more team stacking.

He had some great plays for us, and is now a foundation piece in the defense. I'm great with this.

Giving gink a raise that he earned sets a precedent.

I like Van Ginkel so I understand the signing. Isn't Dallas Turner his backup though? Having just lived through a lot of time between draft choices the last two years, it's burned into my brain that we gave up a lot to move up for Dallas only to have him buried on the depth chart. It's especially true given we chose between Turner and Jared Verse...who ended up DROY.

Well first Van Ginkel looks the part of a viking warrior, so kudos to him.

I am not at all distressed by having quality depth in that department.  Probably why they only added 1 year to his deal, but having lots of weapons to get after the QB makes Flores even more dangerous.

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah revealed that the #Vikings originally wanted to sign Andrew Van Ginkel to a 3 year deal last offseason, but another team was competing with them on a 2 year deal. In the end, Minnesota will get him for at least another 2 years.

Funny, due to his foot injury, he was pretty much MIA during OTAs and a real non-issue in terms of noise during the off-season.
He sure changed the tenor of that noise by his performance, once he was healthy...both on and off the field.
