I think Will Johnson is likely to drop to day 3 or even be a UDFA. We had talked about the medicals, but they are really bad.  He effectively had a procedure where they took cartilage from his good knee and put it in the bad knee. For normal individuals this procedure lasts 10 years. 2 football players have had the procedure and no longer played football after having it.

Qwesi talked about hitting 4 solid picks.  I think they have plans and will be solid players. Safety, Cb, TE, Rb are positions we can look at.

We can go anywhere. Whoever is highest remaining on the board. Alexander would be a great get. Continue the commitment to the trenches.

Now the question becomes... does Kwesi trade a future 2nd and one of his picks today for a 2nd and a late round pick?

With his Wall Street background, picks today mean more than future picks a year from now if there are assets (talented players) we like for this team.

It'll be interesting if we try to get into the top half of Round 2 or just hold tight until we get to 97 and potentially trade back into Round 4 and add some extra Day 3 picks.

Might be why he's so zealously been protecting those 26 comp picks. Dial up Ohio State again please.

Yeah, we can't trade any 2026 comp picks since those haven't been set yet.  But we can trade 97 (comp pick from Cousins last year)...  If he believes we're getting a 3rd, 4th, and another Day 3 comp pick next year...  We might be more likely to trade a 2026 pick knowing we have 2-3 comp picks coming to offset trading them.

Still plenty of talented players at positions of need available.  Hopefully Kwesi gets a little kwazy if one of these guys slips into striking distance.

I don't really see a reason to continue the raid on our future picks. This is an average draft, and we can fill a lot of our remaining needs with the three picks we have left, FA, and then Rookie FA. Nobody out there really makes me want to lose a 2nd rounder next year at this point.

Correct. But you can move the non comp picks in the same rounds.

Hard to make a wishlist with 64 picks to go, but the DLs and the RBs should still have great value at 97 and beyond.

Jaylin Noel would be a miracle pick for me. Probably has no business falling that far though.

Who would be the running backs he would be targeting?

I think Henderson is going to be a stud and is a perfect Aaron Jones replacement. Especially with Jordan Mason on the roster. He's a guy worth moving up for...

Take your pick. There's about a dozen. Henderson's the guy most people like around here. But it's hard to see him on the board much longer.

ITs not a hair on fire need, but Tre Henderson would be that guy for me...I suspect he wont be on the board much longer though. I was happy Jeanty went well b4 10, I would hate to see Tre in the windy city too lol '

It's also a deep draft.
I really like the idea and methodology Kwesi has taken to clean up the Cousins (and others) financial mess, restructure and find solid FA additions (more predictable than draft picks), add some UDFA's (Ivan Pace Jr?) and then take a more solid approach to the draft.
He has admitted he swung too hard in his first draft.  I think this one is a reset.
This year is a capstone to the last 2-3 years.  Cap space is under control, hard to find any weaknesses on offense, and we have just a couple "would be nice to have" additions on defense, namely S and DL.  I don't expect to see any starters coming on Day 2 or 3 of the draft.

Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.

I honestly see us trading a future pick to trade back into the end of 2 or 3 for a falling player. Demetrius Knight is an interesting one to watch. RB as well with Judkins or Harvey. I think there will be a run on DBs early tonight.

If you want the Vikings to trade back into Round 2 tonight, that is fine. But a reminder that next year's picks are about 55%-60% of their value. So, for example, to trade to about No. 40 or so, they'd have to give up Pick No. 97, a 2026 2nd-Rounder, and probably an extra 5th.

_______________

I'd do this for Henderson, but that might be the only player I'd do this for. Just fyi, Henderson's consensus value is between 35 and 45. Man, do not make me start dreaming of Henderson behind the Maul of America. Btw, @"JustInTime" you need to TM that.
