I think outside of the obvious Jeanty and Graham, the only players I stick and pick are...

1. Shemar Stewart, DE - He's listed at edge so not a lot of Viking fans are talking about him, but he was 6-5, 281 at the Senior Bowl. Another 9 lbs and he's a 3-4 DE prototype. And I don't think 9 lbs is going to slow him down one bit. Now imagine a pass rushing line of Greenard, Hargrave, Allen, Stewart, Gink and Turner. Or just the best 4 of those 6. That's just unfair.

2. Malaki Starks, S -  Love Starks, but I think you'd want to get him a little later. Problem is, I looked at all 8 teams who pick after us in the 1st round and all but one have S among their needs. If he makes it to 24, he's not going to be on the board long.

I’m not putting Will Johnson on this list because of his ridiculous injury history (he’s actually hurt AGAIN), and the fact that the Vikings probably aren't done yet at CB. All other players at DT, RB, CB and OL I think have very similarly graded players 10 to 15 picks later. As much as I love Henderson, the Vikings NEED picks, and the depth at running back in this class is just absurd.

Per ESPN talking heads, Schefter, Yates, Schrager, many teams are wanting to trade back and not so many teams wanting to trade up. Though the Vikes will probably want to trade back, it'll be difficult to do so unless we're willing to trade back for a discount. Maybe if Shedeur or Dart are still on the board and an anxious QB needy team really likes one of them. I won't be surprised if the Vikings actually do stick and pick.

Makes perfect sense with how this draft is being rated...

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Yes, it's going to be a tough draft to trade down in. Every team in the NFL knows the strength of this draft is on day two, so every team in the NFL is going to try to acquire as many day two picks as possible. It's going to require a surprise dropper at a premium position and a love sick team who wants him to pull off any kind of trade. But you can bet the Vikings are going to try.

Wonder if we'll have to give-up picks to move down?

Right? There was some silly speculation the year we passed twice and took Kevin Williams at 9 instead of 7 that the Vikings were trying to save money. Of course it was bullshit, but before the rookie wage scale this was something that came up from time to time.

They did get lucky. Actually I think everyone got lucky. The Ravens were still able to get the guy they wanted (Suggs) at 10 and the Vikings still got KW at 9. But it could've been much much worse. Apparently, it was the NFL who screwed up by failing to execute the trade after both teams thought it was a done deal.

Surprised RB is getting so many votes. And one running back in particular, Henderson. Yet consensus has Hampton at 22 and Henderson at 42. But I couldn't agree more. I've had Henderson as RB2 for months and would definitely take him over Hampton.

Henderson is going to be interesting to watch on draft day. Consensus says you can trade down and get him, but he's also one of the cleanest prospects in this class. I think he'll go earlier than expected.

“They LOVE, LOVE him in that program. He’s unselfish, really productive, can play on all three downs and is about the team first.”

NFC Director of Scouting

"I'm hearing now from NFL teams, TreVeyon Henderson could be RB2 in this class".  "I said the last day at the Senior Bowl, I'm getting the sense talking to people in the league that this is a guy that enough teams are trying to already figure out where could he go, that he could wind up in round one."

I'm also a Henderson guy, but I've learned to temper consensus picks. To the best of my memory, the last pick that nearly every Viking fan agreed upon was Matt Kalil. Maybe not a bust but a pretty unforgettable career.

I liked Riley Reiff a little more that year. But he was a late 1st, early 2nd guy and Kalil was consensus top 5. I've since learned to ignore the groupthink.

I called Kalil "LT101" because his technique was flawless. But I thought he was overrated because a big part of his resume included zero sacks given up his final year at USC. But if you really looked into it, you could tell it was much more due to the offense and Matt Barkley's efficiency than anything Kalil did. In fact that USC line led the league in fewest sacks allowed (and none of them went on to do anything in the NFL). If you watched his clips, Kalil got beat a LOT. They just didn't result in sacks.

After his Pro Bowl first season, I thought, what the hell do I know.
