JJM on the UpandAdams Show Today
Kay Adams @heykayadams
Up & JJ McCarthy tomorrow!
#SKOL
lol, I don't know....he looks robust to me. And he's still got about 6-7 lbs to go.
I just don't think that most lay-fans understand that putting on muscle weight in a structured NFL strength program with proper calorie load isn't that difficult and doesn't take long. Especially if you are talking 15-18 lbs. on a 6'3" frame. The key: you need to eat. Muscle needs that protein building blocks to repair and grow while you sleep, that's when the muscle forms, at rest.
JustInTime wrote:lol, doubtful! But you can see from McCarthy's thighs that he's been squatting like a maniac. Probably has a muscle bubble butt also. A very good sign that the knee is 100%. That from the waist down part of a NFL QB is like a platform and torque that launches the arm strength partly. That's his hockey background.
Any insight on the rumor he grew 2” and is now 6-5?

Love JJM, but all I see in the pic is Kay ;)

Can't wait for the JJ era to begin. He was the QB I wanted before the draft. Crazy thing, he is still the youngest QB in the NFL even with the rookies coming out.
JustInTime wrote:lmao, yeah something has to give. ;)
https://x.com/UpAndAdamsShow/status/1904519507030270348 JJ said his knee is 100%. And.... J.J. McCarthy reveals the Minnesota Vikings haven't told him he's the No. 1 QB, and he's "happy they didn't."
Not even Kay can make a bucket hat look good. Far too small for me as I’d pulverize her hips into dust lol
What have I been saying for over a year? I told you this kid impacts people he meets, he's got an 'it' factor unlike others. This dude wins EVERYONE over. Everyone:

I cannot express how impressive JJ McCarthy is and how he carries himself, interacts with the fellas.
@Vikings will be just fine.
purplefaithful wrote:Leading happens off the field as much as on. JJM spends time with other players off the field. Its about relationships. And work ethic.
It'll be interesting to watch it unfold here over the seasons...I'd say after being absent as an active, he's pretty close to square 1 again with the locker room as far as being a "leader" on the team. Not meant as a negative, just the probable reality. Not too far off from OTA's.
pattersaur wrote:I know that I've been banging the drum for JJM for a LONG time as Wet (MADGAINZ) has also, probably ad nauseam to some, lol. Much yet to be proved, I've always said as much along the way of propping this kid up. But this guy is different and he's got the skills. He's a genuine natural leader. No doubt there'll be a bump or two along the way his first year starting.....has to be. Happens to them all. But if anyone can truly break this long standing curse of the Vikings, its JJ McCarthy. JMO but I can honestly say I believe it. And that isn't like me. Take that for what its worth, lol....that and $5 will get you a Starbucks coffee. ;)
I was so ready to be off the Kirk carousel that any exit was going to look great to me. But since you were hyping him up pre-draft and ever since, JJM has fit the bill. The injury sucked and the weight loss thing was odd but man that first preseason game (after the int ha) was so fun. I believe!
p.s. I have however enjoyed some sporadic thread rankings from Chipman, who does not seem to be a JJ McCarthy fan lol. One star given on any JJM thread! ;) He's not so bad Chippy!

MAD GAINZ wrote:Yep. Nobody's talking about it now obviously (his weight). I think Lamar Jackson slimmed down as well in weight. Joe Burrow came back bigger from his injury last year, but I'll wager he slims down a bit as well. Kirk Cousins did the same when he came to Minnesota (he actually trimmed down his last year in Wash). McCarthy's natural NFL weight is between 215 - 219 lbs. that's where he'll be. Jordan Love is at 220 lbs or slightly under.
He looks like he's back up around his combine weight where he was 215-220. What's interesting is I was watching Bryson DeChambeau's "Breaking 50" episode on YouTube. He had Matthew Stafford as his partner and they were discussing playing weight and training. Matt said he came into the league playing around 230-235, but he's been playing much lighter than that in recent years. Said his current weight was 213. If Stafford is playing at that weight, I don't see why we're concerned with JJ McCarthy at or slightly above that. Both are 6'3 and no one is saying Stafford is too skinny.
