Jordan Mason is a good young RB. Much better than Cam Akers and a guy who can carry the load if Jones gets dinged.
I think this takes us out of a RB on Day 2, but I think we still take advantage of a deep class on Day 3 (assuming we trade down for more picks at some point).
With the OL and now RB gains in free agency, we should be able to get kinda crazy on CBs and similar in the draft.
Still looking for that backup QB, though. A-a-ron is not acceptable.
KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....
I think that’s a good pick up. He has shown he can catch, break tackles and run hard between the tackles.
Reduces the urgency for a RB. Having Jones, Mason, a potential late round RB and Ham looks like a very good RB room to me
Watched a few highlights. 49ers seem to mix in zone, man, gap, and duo. I remember thinking the 49ers lose McCaffery and gain this monster.
5-11 223. Quick. Enough speed. I can understand the disappointment about probably not tapping into this class early but I think there’s still guys Day 3 that are quite capable.
Young and ascending. I like it.

W trade! Ed Ingram out, Jordan Mason in.
Between he and Jones, that’s decent. Especially if the OL is improved. If our QB can keep defenses honest, we will be in business.
On plays with 1-3 yards needed to gain a first down last season...

Jordan Mason = 5.3 yards per carry
Aaron Jones = 2.9 yards per carry
Vikings overall = 2.9 yards per carry
Jordan Mason faced the highest rate of stacked boxes in the NFL last season (8+ defenders).

Despite this, he still managed to rank 3rd in rush yards over expectation per attempt and 10th in yards after contact per attempt.
The Vikings got a DAWG 🔥

So in summation Ed Ingram and #160 get us Jordan Mason and #187. Dig it!
P.S.: Much of Mason's 2025 cap hit will be paid for by cutting Ty Chandler :)
Wonder if he’s related to Tommy Mason.

Love this move. Couple of us mentioned Mason as a back we should target a few months ago. Cost virtually nothing and gives us a tough yardage option and really nice depth at RB. As he showed last year, Mason can start for you in a pinch.
I don't think this takes RB off the draft list though. This is not our RBOTF. And neither is Jones. But I would say this might move CB back into the lead as most likely 1st pick.
I remember watching him last season and thinking those F'ing 49'ers, lose CJM and then just line-up this stud?
WTF?
Very much reminds me of David Montgomery. Great get on the team, gives us supreme flex in the draft. 3 down back.
I DO NOT believe this takes us out of the running for Henderson/Judkins/Hampton. They only got AJ for one more season.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
