Its a little surreal to me right now, honestly. Like PF hilariously said in another thread, I couldn't open the presents fast enough. It was a landslide this morning.

#SKOL Vikings QB skinny. As you all saw last night the Vikings had some impressive representation at the NFL Honor awards. If you watched closely you saw one of the owners next to new Coach of the Year. This skinny comes from him.
Let’s get into the good stuff the future QB of the Vikings. As @thorku raked the BS Lions beat writer for spreading total misinformation requiring a community note no less, Sam Darnold is a goner. Why? Let me explain.
As the coach himself stated Darnold has earned the right to pursue free agency and will command 30-40M per year for a new contract. Now I know the franchise tag has been talked about endlessly. That right now sits at 40M per year. I know you wannabe GM’s have talked about the franchise and trade angle. That’s a pipe dream. Why? Because it could end up hurting the team. Why? Because trading a franchise tag player is near impossible and not a situation ownership wants to entertain.
Now I know you all want both QBs next year but it’s NOT happening. Why? First they really like and admire Sam for what he did this year and want the best for him. That means he Sam wants out. I know they can tag him but again that adds to many possibly land mines for next year. They want next year to be as smooth as possible to get JJ up to speed to take over the franchise. Period STOP!
JJ is who they are ALL IN on so having Darnold back could only stunt his growth as their future franchise QB. They simply can’t pay 40M to Sam and have him show those happy feet we all saw in those last 2 games. Those 2 games was the nail in the coffin. That 40M must go to free agency and the draft. This fact, to quote “is set in stone”.
The offensive line and defensive line is priority numbers 1 and 2. To bolster them there is no way to spend 40M on Darnold, the numbers for the salary cap simply don’t work.
The RB situation is not on top of their list. They loved what Cam Akers did last season along with Aaron Jones. Again they want to get that offensive line bulked up for JJ.
On the WR situation again not a top need. With the JJ and the Addison break out along with Nailor and Hock they are quite deep.
To sum up offensive and defensive lines will be upgraded along with the safety position with Harrison close to retirement. To do that Sam is gone no ifs ands or buts. No franchise tag BS but a new era ownership visualizes as next Fran Tarkenton. Yes you heard that right they envision JJ McCarthy as the new Fran Tarkenton no more happy feet Darnold. They watched Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar, and Hurts and know it’s time for JJ to JJ. The End. #JJ2JJ
