That contract should put the Vikings in the 3rd round compensatory pick formula for 2026.

Thank you, Sam.

Definitely. Vikings won't sign anyone for $36M per year.

Good for Sam. Good for us. I don't think Kwesi offered him any more than another one year bridge deal, which is fine. In JJ I trust.

Definitely a hefty chip in calculations.

Happy for Darnold and glad the soft market narrative can be closed, he got what was expected. Do not think it is a good fit for him, I think the Rams messed up by sticking with Stafford instead of going younger with Darnold, that would have been ideal for both. Will be rooting for him as long as we are not playing them.

I dont know what Stafford has left, but they get to see him all the time and McVey is pretty sharp.

Darnold to Rams or Steelers made all the sense in the world to me.

Darnold to Seattle?? No OL, few weapons - but a $55m guarantee.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

He got his bag and little else. Two good RBs and a solid WR2 in JSN, but that OL will have him seeing ghosts again.

55 million $  bag would be enough to make the rest easier to digest. I don't think he has a chance to win a superbowl or wear a gold jacket. I'm happy the Vikings gave him the opportunity to set up his family for life, and I'm grateful for him doing what he did to make a special season for Vikings fans. Kind of like what Keenum did.
He's no longer a Viking so I don't care what he does now. But I sure loved all those great moments when he threw the ball long and hit his targets. That first half in the first game against Green Bay was totally unexpected ecstasy.

Was a damn fun, totally unexpected year. I fear his regression to the mean will be swift and ugly.

Agreed. Don't see this going well for him in Seattle at all

It was.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

He'll definitely regress without our offense and weapons, but I don't think he regresses all the way back to his early days.

I think he'll settle into a nice long career as a low to mid level starter/backup who flashes and folds, flashes and folds based on his surround. He'll bob above and below replacement level. He'll be Andy Dalton or Ryan Tannehill or Geno Smith for the next 8-10 years.
