Rams Tell Stafford To Pound Sand. Future Sammy D Home?
Rams tell Stanfford’s agent he can seek a trade. Clearing the way for Jimmy G? Get real. Darnold getting an actual upgrade in play calling. 1 of maybe 2 guys you could say is an upgrade over KOC.

Really?!
If true, that would make the Rams a very desirable landing place for Darnold.
Not sure what the Rams cap situation is (w/out Stafford) but a good front office can manage capanomics well.
and yah, I would rate McVey ahead of KOC as an offensive play caller (today).
The Rams have given Matthew Stafford’s agent permission to speak to other teams, per @TomPelissero . pic.twitter.com/y4gsSWFzjN

Just heard it on NFL radio. I guarantee Sammy is ending up there. Then it’ll be:

Rams and Darnold make perfect sense. I think I started a thread on that a few days ago.....
Oh, I can be completely vindictive ;)

Echoing reporting from @TomPelissero: The #Rams have given permission for Matthew Stafford’s agent to speak with other teams about his value. This is not a trade request.

Instead, the Rams and Stafford can gain a better understanding of his value outside the team, potentially… pic.twitter.com/ouYiIQtcr9
Ok. Sure.

Stafford's going to get a lot of attention from teams who feel their team is pretty good, but need a bridge before starting over at QB...or one to help them develop a QB who needs more time (Richardson?). So, the Steelers and Colts are the two most likely destinations IMO.
I also agree that the Rams would be the perfect place for Sam and that this has the potential for an egg facial for Kwesi. Just not sure if the Rams can make the money work.

I just don't think Stafford will garner much out there in the wild. He's 37 years old and a playoff team has just decided to let their QB 'see what he's worth out there'. lol, yeah so normal. The more I look at this, the more I'm like why would the Rams do this? His QB rating last year was the best he's had since 2021. Completion percentage better than last year. So the Rams would have to eat some of his contact in a trade, that's a given as he's untradeable with that current contract. AND pay Darnold $45 million for this upcoming year PLUS the signing bonus?? Does any of that make sense?
Unhappy wife, unhappy life?
I have no idea either. It seems like he's got a great situation in L.A.

Agreed. Who is going to move the needle more than Stafford for the Rams?? Darnold? Rodgers? Absolutely not. It doesn't make any sense.
Stafford's been wanting a new contract for over a year. The Rams don't want to commit long term to a 37 year old QB. Is it possible they settle their differences and Stafford comes back to the Rams? Of course. But I wouldn't count on it. Rams have a young core and don't want their elderly to hobble the team's future the way Brees did with the Saints.
What will they do at QB? No idea. But Darnold makes a lot of sense for them.
My guess is Stafford will be back. They aren't that far off from the tippy top so downgrading at QB is risky, even to get younger.
BUT... This is potentially great news for us. The Rams are one of the teams I'd have the most confidence in that KAM can achieve a sign and trade. A homecoming for Samuel and some compensation for us sounds good to me.
I had not heard Stafford was Jonesing for a newer contract till now...
That COULD be a reason for separation...I guess I would be surprised if he didnt finish his career there.

Grossly underpaid and no guaranteed money. Bad combination.

Not a fan of this new trend where a player and team are negotiating an extension/restructure and the team leaks they have granted the player permission to seek a trade. When the player hasn't actually asked for a trade. Then a few days later leak what the player is looking for, or an inflated number. Teams claim this is so a player can test the market and figure out his worth. This is simply the FO trying to save face with the fanbase and make it look like their hands were tied. Many fans are too lazy to read beyond the headline and assume its a player requesting a trade, which is going to make most fans turn on a player.
ESPN's Jordan Raanan wrote Wednesday he believes it is "pretty clear" the Giants have made Stafford their "top priority at quarterback."
The Athletic's Dan Duggan reported the Giants met with Stafford's representation at NFL Scouting Combine, which is taking place this week in Indianapolis, on Tuesday.
The team and Stafford's representation will try to work out a restructured contract for the quarterback, who was left with minimal guaranteed money in 2025 after renegotiations last offseason.
Rodrigue reported that the Rams are also allowing Stafford's agent to "talk with other teams about Stafford's contract terms," which could allow the Giants an in to the negotiations.
NFL Network's Peter Schrager recently reported that the split between Stafford and the Rams hinges on "a money issue," and that the veteran quarterback is seeking "more than $50 million" next season.
That wouldn't be all the Giants would have to give up to acquire Stafford. Any trade for the quarterback would likely cost draft compensation. The Giants' assets outside the 2025 first round include the No. 34 pick.
The franchise could be willing to pay a high price for a proven starter, however, given that the Giants currently have Tommy DeVito as the only quarterback signed through 2025.
The Giants are also slated to select third in upcoming draft, and general manager Joe Schoen said Tuesday at the combine that the franchise would consider adding both a rookie and veteran quarterback to the roster this offseason.
"Even if you get a young quarterback, you'd like to have a vet in the room with them to show them the ropes and how to be a pro," Schoen said (h/t Raanan).
Adding both Stafford and drafting a young quarterback like Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders could potentially give the Giants both the chance to improve immediately after a 3-14 season while putting the franchise on track toward developing a future franchise quarterback.
That scenario hinges on Stafford, who ESPN's Adam Schefter recently reported wants to stay in Los Angeles, leaving the Rams.
Whatever decision the Rams end up making about their incumbent starter, they will be under pressure to make it soon. Stafford is owed a $4 million roster bonus on March 19.

Not sure Stafford is going anywhere unless he's somehow lost his mind. The Giants? The Raiders? This is such a non-story being pushed. I swear this shit is generated solely by the media FOR the media to keep the 24/7 news machine flowing until free agency. The 49ers and Purdy are working toward a deal, I read, so that might make him more disgruntled. So much posturing going on out there, lol. Rams say they are 'fine' with starting Jimmy G.....McVay loves Stafford and he's 'their guy', blah blah blah. CoachSpeak from KOC. You'd think this was some covert CIA operation with the subterfuge and smoke.
Not sure what's so hard to believe about a QB wanting more money and his team telling him to go find it.
If Stafford wants $50mm?
I dont think the Rams will go for it.
