Maybe Johnson's contract helped get things done?

Conversations also are underway on an extension for #Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Minnesota is 34-17 since they took over in 2022 and the plan is to keep the braintrust together.

EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings and Head Coach Kevin O’Connell have agreed to a multiyear contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
"Kevin is exactly who we believed him to be when we named him as our head coach – an innovative play caller, an excellent communicator and a strong leader who motivates and connects with his players," Vikings Owner/President Mark Wilf said. "He has helped establish a culture that positions us for sustained success, and he will continue to set the standard we need as we pursue a championship for Vikings fans."
Vikings Owner/Chairman Zygi Wilf added the following:
"There is no question this team is on the right trajectory under Kevin's continued leadership. His authenticity, passion and positive energy, along with his impressive understanding of the game, has helped lead to the success we've experienced over the past three years and will be foundational blocks on which to build moving forward."
O'Connell said "it is an absolute honor to continue leading the Minnesota Vikings."
"Holding this prestigious position is something I never take for granted, and I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Wilf family for their unwavering belief in what we are building together. I also want to thank Leah and our incredible children; their love and support allow me to perform this job at a high level," O'Connell said. "And none of this would be possible without the dedication of our coaches, players and support staff. I can't wait to get back to work with all of them as we continue to build upon the high standard we've set and the positive environment we've created.
"To Vikings fans, you are the best in the NFL," O'Connell added. "There is no greater joy than leading our team in front of you each Sunday and experiencing the home-field advantage you create. I'm thrilled for the years ahead."

The #Vikings and Coach of The Year candidate Kevin O’Connell have agreed to terms on a blockbuster, multi-year extension that keeps him in Minnesota for years to come, per me and @TomPelissero.
The future is bright for the Vikings, and O’Connell is a big part of it. pic.twitter.com/ryrSzB1dNp

So much for the online sports fluffers talking all kinds of ridiculous shit about him being 'traded' or there's 'acrimony' because he hasn't signed an extension. It was always going to happen. My guess is $13.5. million per year. Maybe a touch more.
I dont think he signed for less than Johnson did, but we'll see soon enough.
Whats another million here or there anyways???
Wetlander was right, he and LaFluer were massively underpaid for where the mkt went for these HC's.

Where the hell are you guys seeing all these talking birds? At any rate, if the bird can be trusted, this would put KOC tied for 5th with his former boss Sean McVay, and ahead of Kyle Shanahan, John Harbaugh and Dan Campbell.

KOC I understand, but how does Kwesi deserve an extension? Had a great free agency season this year, but not only he has he produced very little in 3 drafts, but he also depleted our picks for 2025 in the process. He needs to move to another position and let someone else run the draft, our OL and DL issue are largely due to absolutely no help from his picks over the past 3 years.

I'm not a big KAM fan either. But its not debatable that the franchise has posted some good w/l records under his tenure.
There is someone else in that front office I am wondering about - Ryan Grigson (SVP Player Personnel). While their FA picks have been top notch, something aint right when it comes to drafting...Its just not working whatever they are doing.
MAYBE Turner/JJM change that narrative?

Well the talking heads can shut up now
Also: Am told talks are also underway between Vikings ownership and GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah on a contract extension.

Glazer glazing on about nothing
Welp, the timing was because that is when our show airs Fox NFL SUNDAY. Not Wednesday or Thursday. SUNDAY. Every year for probably the last 15 years the same weekend I do my ANNUAL coaching carousel segment and usually drop nuggets that day that aren’t known. I don’t work for… https://t.co/fo61q4pHnK

I've brought the Grigson thing up before, but the guy was absolutely awful as the general manager in Indy. Why would you hire him to advise anybody on drafting players or personnel moves!? This is the guy who gave up a 1st round pick for Trent Richardson lol amongst other boneheaded decisions.

for what he gave up for those 2.... they better walk on water.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
KOC just named NFC coach of the year by the Committee of 101.

Also read that KOC negotiated more say in personnel matters, which I'm glad for if true. Have KAM extended, but neuter him a bit and let KOC flex on important draft/player decisions.
I'm curious to know what this means. What does "more say" mean exactly? I think it's pretty clear he already has quite a bit of sway in terms of draft picks, as he should, as head coach. He did a lot of work on Addison and McCarthy and he clearly had some pull in free agency, helping to bring Aaron Jones to the Vikings.
But to his credit, Kwesi isn't a rogue GM. Like all good GMs, he appears to listen to his staff and doesn't make decisions unilaterally. So what does "more say" mean? I hope at least THEY have outlined the parameters of this or it could get sketchy.
