2025 NFL Free Agency and Draft: RB
I don't see the Vikings adding a running back in free agency. There's just not much out there. Even if we bring back one or both of Jones and Akers, I think the Vikings will take a RB with one of their first two picks. From this list, I love Jeanty and Henderson. Unimpressed by Skattebo and Neal. With the depth of this class, there's probably going to be good backs still on the board after the draft. One sleeper I like right now is Montrell Johnson, Jr out of Florida.
This year’s RB draft class is absolutely LOADED.

Some NFL scouts reportedly believe there could be “easily over 10” selected between rounds one and two.
• Ashton Jeanty (Boise State)
• Omarion Hampton (UNC)
• Kaleb Johnson (Iowa)
• Dylan Sampson (Tennessee)

No wasted movement when changing direction. Always has smart feet and often surprises defenders with his explosiveness for his size. Finishes runs through contact for dirty yardage.

I'm in on Dylan Sampson as a day-two RB target. Great vision between the tackles, sets up his blocks well, smooth lateral cuts, has breakaway speed to hit big plays/bounce runs, and nose for the end zone (22 TDs in 2024). pic.twitter.com/FTdm1VmPHb

You see him get caught from behind frequently.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Right? I think it’s the difference between track speed and football speed. His explosive run rate is low. He’s going to get you chunks but at 200 lbs I want you to take the top off the D.

I see so much Nick Chubb/James Conner in Omarion Hampton’s game.

He also moves/runs a lot like Zach Charbonnet.

I still think RB is an option with our first pick, but if we decide to go DT, CB or S early, I'd be happy just adding JCM to the backfield in the 4th or 5th round. I thought he might go undrafted, but that's looking less and less likely.

I honestly wasn't even looking at JCM until the last couple weeks. He is all over the board with different professional opinions. I see him in the 4th round to UDFA. It is hard to determine where he will go. He looks to be a very patient runner that uses his blocks, that can make his own path if things break down. Hell of a talent. He dances at times which seems to stop some momentum going up field. I can't figure out who he reminds me of when he runs. He is a RB that makes me think I have seen it before. Dobbins maybe. IDK. He seems to be a RB that you can't go into the draft and prepare where to take him.

I can tell you the difference between those disparate opinions: those who watched his Shrine week and those who didn't. Because up until then he was just a back who didn't play in 2024. UDFA... if that. You have to wonder where he'd be in this class if he played a full season.

I don't really understand the eligibility issues and why the team benched him due to it. Not sure if the NCAA got involved. I haven't read too much on it. Well to me, he looks like a 2nd-3rd round talent with the way he runs. He runs well. A ton to like about him. Lacks a bit of blocking, but having a patient runner that allows his line to block, has the awareness to make things happen when he has to, is a lot to want in the NFL.

There’s several prospects that are going to go undrafted that will be the next Arian Foster. I’d bet the mortgage on that. Working against JCM is his nondescript years at Alabama State, one year of D1 production and his age.
Seeing as we are meeting with him might be with the intent of drafting him Day 3 or acquiring him as a priority UDFA. I believe the last 3 years we’ve handed out the most money in “Day 4” of the draft. Got to think he’s a priority.

Yet another RB to fall in love with from the 2025 #NFLDraft class:

Raheim Sanders
2022 - Massively productive (1.4k scrimmage yards)
2023 - Injuries
2024 - Comeback player of the year
Love the vision and tempo. Active feet always setting angles up, and enough burst to take… pic.twitter.com/w5FDbOm7MJ
Interesting player. 6th ish round. Former WR, played RB for the first time last year. Doesn't know what he's doing, but if you can teach him to be a RB you could have something. 4.39 forty. Returner
