Interesting

If we could sucker  a team to give us a first round pick for JJ McCarthy, I would jump at it and I’m assuming the Vikings would too. The Vikings brass is obviously putting this out there to gauge the interest in JJ McCarthy…..

so you come in touting the journeyman back up qb bust, have said nothing flattering about the team in general, but you want to pretend you arent a troll? there is taking a contrarian position to foster more dialogue... fuck I have pretty much perfected it, but you are painting yourself into a corner here.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Maybe even just trade him for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.  JJ hasn't done jack for the Vikings....

The name of the thread says it all. Like it's fact and it isn't. I could see if it came from a reputable source, but it came from a nobody. It's someone's thought. Nothing about that is "News"

I wasn't responding to the click bait article.  They do that this time of year to get some attention.  I was responding to your comment:

"If we could sucker a team to give us a first round pick for JJ McCarthy, I would jump at it and I’m assuming the Vikings would too."

If we could sucker a team in a QB weak draft class into giving us less than we gave up for McCarthy in the first place, you would jump right on it.  When you stake an indefensible position just to get a reaction...that's called trolling.

Is starting the same dumb topic several times a week and haranguing everyone about it a new thing around here or did I miss something?

Benjamin Solak, formerly of The Draft Network and the Ringer. Now with SI, a group who at one time was considered a reputable source of sports news, but who recently discovered how much money there is to be made in the outrage economy. Solak is good at that.

Some of Solak's previous takes: Said the Eagles were going to take Justin Fields at #6 overall because they didn't like Jalen Hurts, whom they drafted the year before, and because Fields was "just too talented to pass up." He still believes in Fields, mocking the Vikings last spring for taking Darnold instead of Fields. Also called Joe Burrow a system QB and neglected to rank Josh Allen inside his top 100. He went 7th overall.

He's makes his money by being contrarian, extreme and defensive, which is a good business model in today's media. If only he were right once in a while.

LOL, if DH11 actually read his own linked article, the author doesn’t even agree w/ the cited “insider” data analyst’s take.

https://www.si.com/nfl/vikings/news/sam-darnold-j-j-mccarthy-daniel-jones-vikings-gm-talks-2025-qb-plans-01jhr5ttygt1

McCarthy may be an unknown, but he was competing for first-team reps before suffering a preseason knee injury. O’Connell admitted the Vikings weren’t sure how the rest of the preseason would’ve unfolded if McCarthy had stayed healthy. This suggests Darnold’s remarkable regular season might never have happened had the rookie been available.

Now, McCarthy enters his true rookie season in 2025 with a year of mental reps under his belt. The Vikings must be optimistic, especially considering how recent college quarterbacks like Houston’s C.J. Stroud, Washington’s Jayden Daniels, and Denver’s Bo Nix have become instant stars in the NFL.

Meanwhile, Lions fans questioning Jared Goff after his poor showing against the Rams should raise even more concerns about Darnold. Like Goff, Darnold excelled during the regular season but folded when it mattered most.

In 10 career playoff starts, Goff has thrown for more than one touchdown just once, and that was a two-touchdown game in last year's divisional round against the Buccaneers. And yes, he was the quarterback when the Rams lost to the Patriots in the Super Bowl in 2019, but he completed just 50% of his passes and didn't throw a touchdown in that game.

There's literally nothing in Darnold's history that says he will be different.

What good is a 14- or 15-win regular season if the quarterback at the helm collapses under postseason pressure? It might seem harsh to judge Darnold on a single playoff game, but the Vikings’ championship window is wide open. They can’t afford to get the quarterback decision wrong—and going forward with Darnold feels like a gamble they might not want to take.

He's made his agenda pretty clear.
