All 4 teams with the bye week are out...

Ga didnt look the same w/out Beck
Oregon barely bothered to show-up
I dont trust that Tx team
I dont think Penn St has the firepower to win it all, same with ND

My $$ is on Ohio St to win it all...Team on a mission

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Agree with most of what you wrote.  I think whoever wins the Ohio St vs Texas matchup will take the National Championship.

Penn State and Notre Dame are good, but I think Texas and Ohio St have more weapons and better QBs to go with strong defenses.

It is interesting in the first year of the expanded playoff format that the teams who had to play to advance sure looked more prepared than the teams with byes.  Kinda makes you wonder if there wasn't such a huge break between the end of the season and the big bowl games if it would shake out different.

The AZ State/Texas game was a really entertaining game to watch, thought AZ really got screwed on the non-targeting call, not sure how you review that and do not call it. Unfortunately, the rest of the games were mostly duds. It will be nice to have a clear winner and not be wondering what would have happened if any of the 4 remaining teams who would have not made it under the older format, would have gotten in.

Let's pour a little out for the SEC....its dominance is GONE. The CFP has been a big disappointment, zero close games outside of Texas - Arizona State. Ohio State is the obviously most talented team, the best that money could buy for 2024. Nobody will punch them in the mouth and watch them cry like Michigan does, so they'll coast to a Natty.

Speaking of Michigan, they are going to be really good in 2025 with Underwood at QB, the 9th ranked recruiting class and this year's promising group. They had no QB this year and I mean none, but that will change big time with the #1 overall player and QB prospect in the nation this Fall.

Funny what happens when everyone can pay their players.

I think this is the beginning of the end of CFB. but I'm probably wrong, but I just dont see this ending well. its being run like another pro league...and it isnt. at some point the NFL should break up the NCAA schools, assign them as farm clubs for the big boy teams, and then sell off the franchise rights with the colleges getting a share of the pie for things like facility rent and whatever.

Im just wondering why some saudi princes havent stepped up and bank rolled a few programs to really turn it into a fucking horse show.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

I agree it's over as we know it. However Revenue created is to much for colleges to lose. Other sports are funding via the football program. I'm a Longhorn fan but think it's unfair they have the deepest pockets in one of the nicer colleges. If they are in need of (name the position) they put the word out and talent jumps from anywhere to Texas. That's unbalanced

I've been wondering the same. Only a matter of time, and I don't think a particularly long one.

Pretty sure I read the playoff games have been getting pretty good ratings, right? So lots of people are watching despite the lopsided games. Personally I haven't caught much of them. Hopefully the next round of games will be better.

I would argue that when the NCAA goes to a 16 game playoff, there will be no bye weeks, and the field will be leveled. Having a bye week has not proven to be an advantage for anyone.
I believe that we will look back in three years and say that the FBS CFP has worked out up and down, over all. It will give added motivation for more mid-level teams to give it a shot at the prize.
I look at the FCS playoff (with 20 teams now) and what it has done for the FCS schools overall. Are there blowouts? Sure. Are there close games, OT's? Absolutely. I personally attended two overtime games last season in Missoula as the Montana Grizzlies eventually advanced to the college FCS championship game in Texas (which was lost to SDSU...that be South Dakota, not San Diego). And I also look at Montana State University trying to finish a historical 16-0 Monday night against an always tough NDSU. It's a great example of what the FBS CFP can be.
Just be patient.
Give it a couple years and the big boy CFP will give us some memorable matchups.
