Sunday Night Football on NBC 8:20 pm

Referee: Brad Rogers

If we win we get the #1 seed and a bye
If we lose we are at Rams or Buccaneers or possibly Falcons

So is it true that tonight's game is meaningless in terms of how it impacts the Vikings? So even if the Lions lose tonight, it does not help the Vikings in any way?

My understanding is regardless of tonight's outcome Vikes still have to win Sunday to have NFC North crown and #1 seed.

It is meaningless.

Even if Detroit loses tonight, they are 13-3 but are 5-0 in the division.  If Detroit beats us, they win the division at 14-3 and a 6-0 division record and get the #1 seed since we'd be 14-3 with a 5-1 division record.

If Vikings win, we finish 15-2, Detroit is 14-3 and we win the division and #1 seed based on overall record.

The only way the 49ers game will matter is if the Lions and Vikings tie in Week 18. For example:

    Lions lose to 49ers
    Lions tie Vikings
Lions finish 13-3-1, Vikings finish 14-2-1 — Vikings win the NFC North, Lions move to 5-seed

The real question in this game to me is can we hold St Brown to under a dozen catches and 150 yards? I mean this guy notoriously torches the Vikings and we've never found a way to slow him down. Jameson Williams just went over 1,000 scrimmage yards on the season and has developed into a viable big play #2 receiver. I worry about Shaq Griffin holding up on the back end Gilmore shows his age on occasion. I think Aaron Jones needs to have one of his best games and we need to dictate pace and keeping their offense off the field as much as possible and our defense needs to come up with at least two big plays. It's going to be a dog fight.

Bring it Kitties. Biggest game in 15 years and I am excited AF.

Best Detroit team in 75 years. They are well coached and rich in talent from all their years of sucking and the resulting high picks.

Here’s the difference. Detroit has a swagger that borders on obstinance, they also have some dirty to their game. Our Vikes have a quiet confidence and are the most consistent and focused Vikings team I have seen week in and week out since the 70’s.

So in the words of Martin Scorsese, Where’s the drama? If you would write a story, this contrast clearly makes us the good guys vs the Detroit bad boys. A classic dramatic showdown. I will be yelling and cheering like a kid.
