‘Drinking through the fire house’

Left tackle Cam Robinson played 100% of the Vikings’ 53 offensive snaps Sunday, doing so through a foot injury that limited him in two days of practice last week before a full return Friday.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell said Monday he thought it was the best game Robinson has played since the Vikings acquired him in a Week 9 trade with the Jaguars to become an instant starter.

Phillips agreed with the assessment, noting that the amount of terminology Robinson learned in a short amount of time can be hard and that it felt he’d reached a new comfort level with the verbiage Sunday.

O’Connell seemed to reference the terminology, too, saying Robinson has “a drinking through the fire hose mentality of game plans” but “played with a quiet mind.”

Getting a quality starting caliber player for bargain prices in the middle of the season to replace your injured starter is something that can only be described as fortunate. Very few teams are trading starting caliber players for peanuts.

He's in contract year.

He went from a dead end bad team to a contender.

Just sayin' no surprise that he's playing well..

If he continues to improve due to familiarity and adjustment it will make sense to me.

Shrewd move by Kwesi.

Really?  No surprise?  A starting LT was available mid season for a song.

For a team that struggled for decades to find a quality LT (Steussie, McKinney, Kalil, Reiff), to trade for a guy mid-year and have him play so well is pretty remarkable.

It seems no matter where they add veteran NFL players (Robinson, Greenard, Gink, Cashman, Gilmore, Romo) they've been successful. It makes you wonder a little if the Vikings' pro scouting staff is just that good at identifying underrated players or if this is another example of average + coaching/culture = greatness

It is nice to get solid play from an OL man that came in through a move by KAM. Nicely done
