Trade deadline Nov. 5th
Rumors flying that teams are calling the Browns about Myles Garrett. Edge isn't exactly our biggest need, but that's a helluva player. Right now the Vikings have a 1st rounder and two 5ths. That's it. We'll likely get a 3rd round comp pick, but would you give up our precious 1st rounder for a player like Garrett? If nothing else, to keep him away from the Lions, whom I'd bet are one of the teams calling.
Dexter Lawrence and Jeffery Simmons are also getting some buzz. I think Jeffery Simmons might be the better fit for us since he plays one of the DE positions in a 3-4, where we currently have Bullard and Tillery.
I think the Lions will make a move on the DL...
Boy, I would love to add some push/beef to our IDL. But with so few draft assets, I just dont see it happening. I think they roll with what they got.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

According to @DWolfsonKSTP
, he believes the splash will be “pretty big” at the trade deadline for the #Vikings, he stated on
@SKORNorth
Minnesota is “absolutely having discussion” about trades around the league, and he would be shocked if they don’t complete any sort of trade before this year’s deadline on 11/5. Wolfson is lead to believe Minnesota has to “at least consider” putting their first round pick on the table.
If the right deal comes along, the Vikings' brass might subscribe to the idea that a proven commodity is worth more than potential (draft picks). Redskins' George Allen used to trade every draft pick that he could in order to obtain players that were already proven in the league, but that was before the modern era salary cap.
If we add help defensively I could see DLs Lawrence or Simmons. Adding one of them would eliminate the need to take a DL in the 1st next year, because I'm sure that's what it would cost us. Both are 26, 27, Simmons contract is a smidge higher. Same with corner if they look there. I think it would have to be a young guy who would eliminate the draft need. Greg Newsome's name has been mentioned. Browns, 24, former 1st rounder, but hasn't played very well.
On offense the only position I can see adding is RB. Travis Etienne is probably available, but how good is he really? Cooper Kupp is interesting with his connection to KOC, as is Diontae Johnson, but do we need a WR? Adam Thielen would be a feel-good story, but that's about all it would be.

Thought the same thing but Wolfson has inside info. He is pretty accurate when he posts stuff like this.
Lawrence would cost more than 1 first, but he is worth more than that. That would be reminiscent of a Reggie white type trade, not quite that level, but he would vault our line to much greater heights.

Absolutely, but I agree with some on the board that for him or D. Lawrence it most likely would take more than a first. Teams trading with the Lions or Vikings will know that the first round pick they get will most likely be 25-32.
IOL or IDL.... other than that my first round pick is not for sale. in either case I want guys in their mid 20s ( just reaching their primes ) and preferably on the end of their rookie deals, although the right multi year 2nd contract could be in consideration for the right player. I dont want rentals or somebody that is more talk than walk, somebody that has shown solid play and growth over their first few years, not a splash type of guy that maybe just had 1 lucky year and is now coasting.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
I just can't see the Giants trading Lawrence, but the Titans moving Simmons..I could see. That would be a great addition for us. A force on our defensive interior would really make this defense formidable.
Another guy who might be of interest is DeForest Buckner in Indy.

There are rampant rumors on Twitter that the Vikes are trading for Matt Stafford ?
Ive read the Stafford speculation for a while now - I just dont see them having to make a move when Darnold has been far more then serviceable.
Now as far as that DT? For the right guy I would dance a jig - cause that really would move the D into a higher level (and its plenty good now)
Would allow us to concentrate on D backfield next year. We got lots of guys on 1 year contracts.

Agreed. If you can land a pro bowl level DT, you do it.
I'm not sure Lawrence or Simmons would draw more than a 1st. Maybe a 1st and something coming back. Those guys have $90M contracts that tend to keep draft comp down a bit. And they don't really play a premium position like QB, CB or Edge. Maybe a 1st and get a 4th back?

I think that's Florio, which is all you need to know.
Not sure how plugged in olde Buck is or not?
Buck Reising is the Midday host on 104.5 The Zone, heard every weekday from 10AM-1PM. Reising has covered the Tennessee Titans as a writer, reporter and talk show host since 2017.

I'm hearing the Giants want at least two firsts plus some for Dexter Lawrence. He's like Chris Jones, a premiere DT that can rush the passer. You're not getting a game wrecker like that for much less considering his age and production.

People in hell want ice water. Giants can want all they want, but they're not going to get two 1sts for Dexter. He's a nose tackle. And he has a $90M contract. My goodness, at least I don't think they will!
Matt Stafford???? Why???? I would be pissed about that move.
SKOL VIKINGS :P

That rumor is getting far more yardage than it deserves.
So the Vikings, paying Darnold $10M and awaiting their prize rookie's return, take on Stafford's $47M cap hit and the rest of his $160M contract that runs into 2026, not to mention give up draft capital they don't have, not to mention upsetting the carefully crafted culture they've built...all so they can downgrade the QB position? Because that's what Stafford would be IMO. Especially mid year.
It gets floated by Moron Mike Florio, then spread around Twitter by click-baiters to the point where it has to be debunked by legitimate news sources like Ben Goessling. The only thing remaining is for Charley Walters to chime in. Remember his Jefferson trade rumor? That started with Florio, Walters heard it and printed it as a "whisper" and then Florio used Walter's piece as a 2nd source! LOL!
I think there's zero chance we would trade for Stafford. We already have our next year's QB.
We're not going to bring Stafford in mid-season to learn the offense and hopefully win this year.
Darnold is going to want to pick his next job, so its not like they are getting a guaranteed option going forward, as he'd likely want to test the market first.
