Looks like the Bryce Young experiment hasn't worked out in Carolina.

Bryce Young benched

Wow. Not surprising I guess. But with Andy Dalton the Panthers might win enough to avoid the 1st overall pick. Would they even use it on a QB after the Young fiasco? Teams typically avoid the route that screwed them the last time. But the leading veteran route (so far anyway) might be Darnold, whom they already tried and gave up on. LOL. Man, this team can't win for losing.

Took Carolina a week longer than it did me and my fantasy team, ha.

Sad state of affairs in Carolina. I'm sure they'll be better now but man that GM probably made this switch through gritted teeth.

Total mess.

I was all over young. Just like I was all over Wilson. Throwing them in the fire as a rookie doesn't help I guess.

NFL QB wins after age 35

Yeah, at age 36, I think Andy Dalton should have plenty of tread left on the tires.

Still in shock they took him over Stroud. One of the dumbest decisions ever, then you top that off by losing out on the #1 overall pick this year that was Caleb Williams. Rough times in Panthers land..

Please. Tepper is a horrible owner. They'll be garbage for awhile.

I never meant to convey that I think they are a better franchise. I was just responding to this; "Man, this team can't win for losing."

Here is proof that we are a very top franchise, even higher than some Superbowl winners;

Maybe Young can get away from Carolina and play better. Baker has done it. Darnold has it done it (for two whole games so far but hey we'll take it).

So it's possible.

Another possibility is the league kept taking guys smaller and smaller at the position, a la going lower and lower on a limbo bar. Eventually, someone's gonna hit the bar and crap out. Maybe that's Bryce Young.

Or maybe QBs will keep getting smaller and Young just stinks. It'll be interesting to watch but as of today he's probably on the Rushmore of biggest busts ever. Lucky for him the book on his career isn't written yet.

They also tried and gave up on Baker Mayfield. In 2022, both Mayfield and Darnold started six games each. Darnold ended up having more wins and better overall stats.

They will be drafting high enough to take another swing at a franchise QB in 25...

Man, I sure hope we're beyond having to deal with that for a long while.

Sounds like Thielen is getting a little fed up with his Carolina experience

The thing that would give me pause is they've tailored coaching staffs around him and his development. Frank Reich and Josh McCown last year, now they bring in Dave Canalis. Do they have the best personnel, no, but they do have some pieces. Not sure the issue here is coaching with Bryce Young. When you take a quarterback limited physically, you better have a plan for him and hope for the best. Panthers gambled and to this point they've lost that gamble in every way possible

....and the Bears still get the Panthers 2nd round pick in 2025. Makes the Hershall Walker trade look pedestrian

Wow, that's a great point, I forgot all about that. More and more evidence piling up on the side of surround over talent in the great young QB development debate. It's almost obvious now.

Looking around the NFL right now the Patriots have to feel pretty good about their decision to sit Drake Maye.

Ive been squarely in the corner on sitting these guys when they're young and let them acclimate to being a pro.

But I do ask the question of is there a benefit to playing a rook early vs not?

Probably depends on their mental make-up. Do you have enough surround to not get them killed?

It's possible that Caleb, Daniels and Nix are getting valuable reps that they'll build on? Ok, thats a stretch for Nix.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
