Let's say the Carolina Panthers turn out to be the worst team....

...do they draft a QB with that top pick next Spring? Obviously, if they are the worst team that means Young has another subpar season. Not sure how they wouldn't IMO, but it is admitting failure pretty quick on a guy the current regime drafted. Can't place blame elsewhere.

Young would still be on his rookie contract. I'm asking if an organization that took a QB #1 overall in the Draft in 2023 would be already willing to throw in the towel by drafting another just 2 years later with the #1 overall pick. Because in theory, they could wait another year and most probably still draft extremely high to see what the 2026 Draft class would be like. Jones was drafted in 2019. Not sure why the dramatic response, but yeah.....NFL organizations care about blame. Dimes is for sure a cautionary tale, but different not an apples for apples comparison.
What? Who cares about blame? Bad draft picks happen for every single regime. What should get you fired is keeping a hopeless option for seasons wasting years of your owners and fans short lives. Furthermore, you aren't limited to only having one option at the most important position in all of sports. Having multiple options is infinitely better than having one (not good) prospect. The opposite scenario to your scenario is currently playing out as we speak. The Giants fandom is currently in a literal meltdown, one game into the season, because their regime doubled down on Danny Dimes, a guy they knew wasn't that good after paying him a moderately large amount of money. This past draft, they had the option to take one of three different QBs. They are currently on a path of no hope, they could have drafted one and been on a path of hope. There's no amount of WRs that are going to drag Danny Dimes to a SB.
