Strib: The Vikings are going to suck this year
"Kevin O'Connell has tried to project "hope and genuine excitement" after a beloved draft pick was killed, the rookie QB was lost for the season, the CB position needed an emergency overhaul and the defensive coordinator's character became subject of a national debate." - Kevin Seifert, ESPN
"A related + sobering reminder here. Sam Darnold ranks No. 29 of 30 QBs evaluated in @Sando's NFL's annual QB Tiers survey. In short, the consensus from 50 NFL coaches/execs is that Darnold is not a QB they would want to start all 17 games. https://nytimes.com/athletic/5715508/2024/08/26/nfl-qb-rankings-2024-patrick-mahomes/"

I think what gets lost sometimes with the local and national media is that Minnesota has talent on this roster. It will be an X-factor in them possibly doing better than 'expected'. Darnold will play a big role in that, one way or the other. Most are pushing their chips in on the side of 'same ol' Darnold'. But that's why they play the games. The Giants are a pretty good measuring stick right off the bat of what Minnesota's season might look like: a winnable game on the road. Not easy, road games never are, but certainly within reason to say winnable.
