...whereas I'm also seeing that the substance in question might have been weed, so I guess he was seeing if that Rolls had "420" horsepower....

OK, first, obviously, doing this a week after Khyree gets killed...

On top of that, in a Rolls?  And a Lambo last year while on his rookie deal.  I hope he's leasing or he's going to end up farther in debt than Adrian Peterson.

Yeah that part about losing a teammate to a drunk driver and then going out and driving drunk gets to me.

I remember years ago, right after the draft they used to have a seminar for all the draft picks to attend discussing all these topics from DUIs, money management or any other negative activities that would impact their careers. Veterans would attend to discuss these issues with them. Whatever happened to them?

NFLPA probably put a stop to them in the last CBA....

I guess those concerned about his excessive speeding last offseason being more than just an "immaturity" once-off aren't wrong yet. We need this kid and hope he pulls his head out of his ass sooner rather than later on the heels of Khyree Jackson, this is just a horribly bad look heading towards training camp

The Googler says they still have them, but rather than the NFL having one big one, they're now run by each individual team for each team's class of rookies. The NFL mandates that each NFL team hosts one each year, and that they must include various things, including "social responsibility for players, which covers league policies and the ramifications of issues like driving under the influence, or committing acts of domestic violence or sexual assault."

So you can rest assured that Addison got his talking to, as he likely did at USC and Pitt as well.

I don't think Cris Carter helped in the Rookie Symposiums the NFL used to have, lol. The infamous 'Fall Guy' speech:

Yep, Carter's comment on finding a fall guy, which Warren Sapp reportedly agreed with, is apparently why the NFL pushed the symposiums off onto the teams. Idiotic thing for Cris to say.

Supposedly, Addison has taken all Vikings pics off of his Instagram page, though I haven't confirmed that. If so, he's sending a truly stupid message.

I dont think there is any doubt he is going to get a suspension from this.

Hopefully they figure out if he's just stoopid or has a problem.

I know they like Nailor, but I'm also sure they'll be watching for opportunities to enhance the WR room.  I dont know how comfortable they are counting on Addison?

I saw a article somewhere offering up Addison to the Niners for Brandon Aiyuk, I wouldnt mind the player, but he is going to want a major new deal and even with the rookie QB contract, i think we have better places to spend that cash.

Without Addison we may not. Having a talented young receiver on his rookie contract alongside Jefferson is what makes the future seem so bright for this team and its QBOTF. But I doubt it makes much sense to have your two highest paid players in the same position, which is what would result from a Aiyuk trade.

We need to keep Addison, but since this might very well be a red shirt / prep year anyway, it might make sense to take the Addison medicine now and do what it takes to clean the kid up. Rehab, suspension, whatever

That article, w/ the proposed trade, also included the Vikings 2026 1st round pick, no thanks…!

So, they want to foist off their expensive, discontent receiver onto us for our wildly talented but annually stupid kid, PLUS a huge draft pick?

That's some powerful weed in SF!

Addison isn't going anywhere. The Vikings still love him. He's immature. And very talented. Brandon Aiyuk? Why? We still have the flexibility with Addison's rookie contract and he'll be a top 4 #2 WRer in the NFL. Minnesota already has the best WRer in the NFL.

I'm glad someone is talking sense around here.

It looks like Addison did some edibles and dozed off in a traffic jam. Since the NFL doesn't issue suspensions for weed or traffic tickets, discipline will be up to the team with a vested interest in keeping him on in the field.

Expect the standard hot air from TCO about accountability, etc. and some symbolic slap on the wrist followed by business as usual.

DUI is DUI, regardless of the source of impairment, if they are going to penalize alcohol related driving matters this should be no different.

As it should be. Given that everyone and their dog wants some sort of "crossover" nowadays, vehicles with all the mandatory safety equipment are consistently over 2 tons, but SUVs over 3. Taking chances wheeling that much metal around is almost hateful.

Yes, I know what it's like to be a young man, and the Mach One and many big-block Fords I had around then were tributes to that. But, having lost a friend to a drunk driver in my teens, I don't take that risk.

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell has gone to great lengths to create a positive work environment, and he begins training camp under circumstances that will require all his leadership acumen.

The NFL eventually might punish Vikings receiver Jordan Addison for his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, but the organization's leaders sounded more supportive than angry in their first public comments about the situation.

General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O'Connell didn't exactly use fire-and-brimstone rhetoric Monday when asked about Addison's second troubling driving-related incident and what discipline the organization might deliver the second-year receiver.

"Any disappointment we might have in Jordan, Jordan has more in himself," Adofo-Mensah said. "He knows the types of behaviors he needs to do to be the best version of himself. And he's kind of let himself down in that regard. Using words like discipline and different things like that, we don't really talk about it like that inside these walls. Inside these walls, it's about designing for the outcome we want. The outcome we want is for Jordan to be the best version of himself on the field and off the field, and he's bought into that same exact same thing."

Well, maybe they should borrow some of Mike Zimmer's fear-based methods to make sure that Addison understands unequivocally that enough is enough and that the organization won't tolerate any more nonsense.

Addison received what amounted to a slap on the wrist after being cited for driving like a rocket on Interstate 94 in St. Paul last July. He released a statement vowing to "learn from this and not repeat the behavior."

Less than a year later, Addison was arrested in Los Angeles on July 12 after police found him asleep behind the wheel with his car blocking lanes of a highway near LAX. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Addison's employer should be furious for multiple reasons. This is his second dangerous driving incident since being drafted. He's also facing a possible suspension by the NFL for one or more regular-season games, thus putting the entire organization in a bind.

But more than anything, Addison's arrest came a week after his rookie teammate Khyree Jackson was killed in a car accident that police say was caused by a speeding driver in a different car, and alcohol might have been a contributing factor.

Addison needs to discover that best version of himself quickly.

O'Connell has gone to great lengths to create a positive and welcoming work environment for players and staffers, but the head coach also must discipline firmly when needed. One screw-up can be viewed as a mistake. Two is shifting to a pattern. Addison has embarrassed himself and the organization multiple times now with his off-the-field conduct.

The Vikings suspended offensive coordinator Wes Phillips for three weeks without pay this spring after he pleaded guilty to careless driving after being arrested in December on suspicion of drunken driving.

O'Connell said multiple times that he intends to "wrap our arms" around Addison, but the player must have a full understanding that patience doesn't come in endless supply and that his actions behind the wheel endangered lives of innocent people on the road.

"It's important that discipline and accountability and personal responsibility, those are things we will talk about, and I will personally talk about with Jordan," O'Connell said.

O'Connell leans heavily on his culture, and he begins training camp this week under circumstances that will require all his leadership acumen.

The death of a teammate brings a wave of emotions for which no coach or team can ever prepare. Players will process their grief differently. O'Connell's responsibility as head coach is to set an environment that allows for grieving to take place while also preparing his team for the season.

The sadness that O'Connell also feels personally was evident in his voice Monday in describing his time as Jackson's coach. He called the tragedy a "wake-up call" that reminds everyone that tomorrow isn't promised to anyone.

This is a somber time for the organization. O'Connell has some serious matters outside of football strategy to manage. His leadership has never been more important than right now.
