What to do at QB
Stick with Kyler. Very unpopular opinion among the irascible masses, but I really do believe this direction results in the best January QB.
Trade for Daniel Jones. He’s familiar with the offensive concepts. He’s much more the KOC type than Murray is. And I think Indy might just be willing to deal him before that ship disappears under the water completely. 2 years, $88M
Trade for Justin Herbert. He’s the most talented QB we’re talking about here. Horrible season, but I don’t think you can gauge his talent level based on what he’s doing this year. Dude makes a quarter billion dollars tho. How we manage that, I have no idea.
Trade for Kirk Cousins. I don’t think he’s the QB we remember from 3 seasons ago. But the fact that he might know the offense better than anyone on this list makes him an intriguing candidate. 1-year, $20M
Promote Wentz. No doubt he’ll make our offense look competent immediately. Just don’t think he’s someone you want at the helm in January. I could be wrong about that. Nick Freaking Foles won a Super Bowl. It’s been said a hundred times, but it’s still true: “All we need is average QB play.”
Trade for Mac Jones. I don’t think this does much for us right away. Maybe? But it might give us our QB for 2027. It’s also hard to see the 49ers trading their backup in what looks like a playoff year for them.
"The point of modern propaganda isn't only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth." —Garry Kasparov
Stick with Kyler. Hard no. I’ve seen enough. I had very high hopes for him, but whether he’s having issues or KOC is the problem, it’s simply not working.
Trade for Daniel Jones - he’s a better fit than Kyler. He brings mobility and a solid arm. However, he’s a big risk for turnovers and that ultimately makes him a last resort for me - but I’d definitely do it if left with no other option. I reviewed his contract and it’s NOT an issue. In fact, we could cut him before March and have $0 in dead cap from him next year. Nothing is guaranteed in his contract except a little over $10 million if a major injury happens.
Trade for Justin Herbert. Definitely. I don’t care if a trade is expensive. He’s young and he’s a true franchise QB. He’s struggling right now because everyone would in that offense. Their line is horrendous. He’s sacked constantly. I think he’d thrive with the Vikings being a downfield prototype guy. I’d give up a lot for him, but I don’t hold draft picks as being nearly as valuable as most do. This is my ideal direction and I’d consider Teasley stupid if he isn’t trying. Yes it impact immediate drafts, but if he’s focused long term, he’s not burning picks down the road chasing a franchise QB.
Trade for Kirk Cousins - I think it would be a good fit. He’s playing very well right now and would be a massive upgrade, resulting in a championship caliber team immediately.
Promote Wentz - this is happening right now no matter who else is brought in. You can’t start Kyler this week. That home crowd is going to lose it.
Trade for Mac Jones - another highly preferred move for me. I think the scheme is excellent for what he does well. He’s not a big armed guy, average at best, but he has excellent touch and timing. He reminds me of a Matt Ryan type of player. Put him in the right system and he’s solid. The other big advantage is he’s a free agent after this season and likely a sought after signing for everyone in need including the Vikings. If you get him, you have the opportunity to evaluate him instead of first spending a huge free agency contract to only then see what you have. I’d go very hard after him and Herbert. The 49ers will trade him in my opinion, but they are not going to part easily. It will take a bit more compensation than usual. That’s ok to me as I value 4th through 7th picks as having almost zero value. I’d packages few if needed.
They need to get something done now. As in today in my opinion.
We're stuck guys. We need someone for next season, personally I'd investigate the cost for Davis Mills, but I'm not the GM.
Unfortunately in dealing JJM, we will ride & die with K1 / Wentz. K1 doesn't see the field, and throws off target to open receivers. Jets has to make acrobatic catches putting himself in harm's way. Jets and Jennings are frustrated, at lack of targets. I'm sure there will be a "soft benching" for his "injury" because KOC wants to protect his fragile QB's ego's. It's a convenient excuse that we keep hearing. What I wouldn't give for a QB who gets the ball OUT, with some backbone & courage in the pocket, can see the field, can take a hit and get back up.
We will win enough games for the postseason, then lose in some unique way.
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
We lost 19-15 IN DETROIT and are 6-1.
Yeah we need to improve here and there but damn you would think we are the Chargers the way this board reads.
JJM has put up garbage time stats and faced weak defenses. Let it go. He is gone and reality is going to come crashing down once he faces a decent Defense or gets hurt walking to the bathroom next week.
I want to hear all the JJM love after he faces SF and SEA back to back. He has 2 more cake games vs the last ranked passing defense in the NFL (Jaguars) and Indy before facing his 1st real test.

Yep, agreed. I don't have anything really to add, I went on my rant there for a few days, said my piece. Nothing ever seems to work out easy for our Minnesota Vikings....and the few times it does or seemingly does, the ending is brutal. Maybe an encouraging offense-led win against a very good Buffalo team can change the feeling.

Baltimore has traded for a Center and a QB in the past week. Teams in general seem to be more active and open to trades this year than usual. The Vikings might not do anything, but they aren't "stuck".
Thought we had exactly what we needed. That is what we were told.
Honestly, I don't give a fuck much anymore. Take over the board and talk to yourselves.

Read that they were working on deals for the interior of both lines, which would make some sense I guess. Probably a TE as well, time will tell…
Dickerson and or Ojomo would be welcome. Ojomo could be the 1/2 year rental that gets you a high 28 comp pick back. Dickerson has played every position on the OL between college and the pros. Time to fleece Howie again. Kick back their 3rd and a 5th. Done.

Is this grown up or leadership?

Iirc, wasnt it week 13 (or so) last yr when KOC "adjusted/loosened the reins" on JJM?
And JJM had, I think, his best game, vs the Commanders...who had 24th ranked pass defense, at the time.
If KOC can make some similar adjustments with K1 this week, the Bills come into this week with the 30th ranked pass defense. Jus sayin. Imagine!
Of course reading on here the state of "abysmal crumble" that the Vikes are in....Vikes may not take the field Monday night. 😉

Warned him last week, warning you now. Don't get personal or you will be kicked out of the thread.
You two were made for each other, might as well enjoy it.
I think Vanguard had the right idea in the "Next Is A Trade To The Raiders" thread:
"Spin....."Click"
Spin...."Click"
Spin...."BANG!"
Kidding of course... I have to live long enough to watch us lose to JJM in the Wild Card round 😎
