From KO to KAM to the Wilfs to every starting quarterback who's been through here the past few years, I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of their role in our current QB mess. Why the arrived when they did, why the left if/when they did, and the effect it had on the 2026 team.

But the one part I can't understand, is a brand new GM trading away the young, cheap, pedigreed QB midseason for a pittance. Even if you're 99% sure the QB won't amount to anything, most GMs would rather sit on a piece like that than take the 1% chance it blows up in their face. ESPECIALLY as a first move. It doesn't happen.

So why did Teasley trade away McCarthy?

  1. He thinks he sucks and reads to much twitter and wanted to get whatever he could for him. Maybe, but Teasley was barely here long enough to determine with his own eyes that the kid has no future so this seems unlikely, but possible.

  2. What I think is happening- Teasley is giving KO enough rope to hang himself. Teasley and all of us know that KO has the stroke around the building right now. KO is top guy and the one who will get the credit or take the fall for anything QB related. So rather than fight it, Teasley is letting him. Wanna trade JJM? "Sure thing, Kev." If McCarthy goes on to be great it's a bad look for Teasley but KO is the guy who'll hang for it, not Teasley. If Kyler continues to play poorly, that's even worse for O'Connell, not Teasley. And now with the trade deadline here, Teasley is the guy who can come to the rescue and save the day with a splash trade, or not. He might choose to let KO try to make lemonade with what he's got on hand. If it works out that's fantastic and the new GM had a great first year on the job. If it doesn't, well, KO might fry and Teasley moves up a rung on the ladder.

Whether calculated or by chance, Teasley is positioned well right now. Dude might be a shark.

I don't get the Teasley versus KOC theories.

I would think working together to better the team is the goal. I know things can turn toxic, but if I just started a job, I would probably want to make changes for the better. Improve things, not be a weasel and screw people over.

Guess that might just be me.

I agree with you and that's not what I'm trying to say here. To me, there's 0% chance Teasley went rogue and traded JJM without KO's blessing and likely urging, so Teasley isn't weaseling anything. He's working lockstep with the coach and did exactly what KO wanted. Like I said, by hook or by crook he's found himself in a win/win position.

I think most here knew NT had no connection to McCarthy and that could present itself as a wild-card at some point.

I DID NOT expect that to be this year though.

Something (or things) happened behind the scenes...And it was bad enough to trade him to an NFC rival (for peanuts) just to get him out of the bldg.

Maybe someday we'll learn what really happened. Just like with KAM...That ended-up uglier then even I predicted. That was one bad presence in Eagan in addition to him being incompetent at his job.

Psst....c'mere......its pretty easy. We have a shit QB1. End transmission.

KOC has thrived with a competent QB. THRIVED. We have a never-was, too small QB that has borderline yips. He's made some inexplicable throws that look unlike a vet NFL QB. He's feeling the pressure, very obviously.

I disagree on the Thrived offense. Some loved the eye candy of the Darnold days and even the 2022 Kirko days, but the stats say otherwise:

079caa54-3c50-4c2d-8e29-dd734c3a19d5.jpgThe Darnold year was the best, but still barely mid. There is no doubt Murray sucks, but I do believe it's time KOC gives up the play calling and design portion of the offense. We need a real OC.

JJM asked out and they accommodated him. It wasn't made public. I'll stick with that because it makes sense in light of the timeline that started when he skipped the preseason game. No fancy theories or venn diagramming required.

If JJM performs extremely well, I’d fire Teasley in a heartbeat and not think twice about it. He’s still ultimately responsible for the roster. He definitely wouldn’t get a pass on a decision that dumb.

I think some are forgetting that the Seahawks did extensive research on JJM before the draft, so Teasley I am sure had a good read on the kid prior to trading him.

KOC wanted Teasley. I dont think he is out to get him. Itll never make sense to me, despite how bad he looked, that we got rid of a 23 yr old on a rookie contract who provided adequate backup to a guy that hasn't played a full season in like 5 yrs.

Something was really off but looking at JJ on the sidelines when he was here, he sure didnt seem like a malcontent.

What a ridiculous take.

Other two options:

  1. What comet52 said that JJM wanted out and we said yes.

  2. KOC wanted JJM gone for whatever reason, likely locker room dynamics and asked Teasely to find a suitor.

I don't think there's any big power struggle conspiracy 3 weeks into the season. That would be the exact opposite of what the team wants.

I'm going to imagine that Teasley and the Hawks did their own scouting/evaluation of JJM. Its not is like he really set it on fire when he was healthy and did play. If you were taking the gig, would you have anchored yourself to someone else's project?

^^^ This..

What are the details fans don't know they don't know.

JJ's platform and mechanics haven't changed in 3 years

JJ isn't stupid and his agent probably told him to yank himself in final preseason game. It was deliberate and forced Teasleys hand. The roster saw it. It was over at that point.

Don't trade JJ.
