And then there was one…
Let’s go…
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
Hell yeah ! It ain’t pretty but we’re winning !! Hopefully our offense gets a little better each week !!!
Bodes extremely well for making the playoffs. KOC keeps telling me every week offensively, 'We're close......we're very close'.....going to have to start to actually see it with the upcoming schedule.
Focusing strictly on the Super Bowl era (since 1966), launching a season with a 6-0 start carries an incredibly strong track record for postseason contention, but it is far from an automatic championship ticket. [1]
Since 1966, dozens of teams have reached a 6-0 record. Historically, their ultimate seasonal outcomes break down into clear paths: [1]
🏆 Super Bowl Champions (~20-25%)
Roughly one in four teams that win their first six games manage to finish the job and win the Super Bowl. [1]
The Most Recent: The 2006 Indianapolis Colts started 9-0 before Peyton Manning claimed his first championship.
The Dominant Forces: Teams like the 1985 Chicago Bears and 1984 San Francisco 49ers parlayed their 6-0 starts into absolute blowouts in the postseason.
The Perfect Run: The 1972 Miami Dolphins are the only 6-0 team to take that start to a completely unblemished 17-0 perfect season. [1, 2]
🥈 Reached the Super Bowl & Lost (~15%)
About 35% to 38% of all 6-0 teams make it all the way to the Super Bowl, meaning a massive chunk fall right at the final hurdle: [1]
2019 San Francisco 49ers: Started 8-0 (including 6-0) but surrendered a fourth-quarter lead in Super Bowl LIV.
2015 Carolina Panthers: Blazed their way to a 14-0 start and a 15-1 record, only to be shut down by Denver in Super Bowl 50.
2007 New England Patriots: Blew well past 6-0 to finish the first 16-0 regular season in NFL history, only to suffer the most famous upset ever to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII. [1, 2, 3]
📉 Missed the Playoffs Entirely (4 Teams)
While a 6-0 start translates to an over 95% playoff probability, exactly four teams in the Super Bowl era suffered total historic meltdowns and missed the postseason completely after losing their seventh game: [1, 2]
1968 Los Angeles Rams: Started 6-0, went 4-3-1 the rest of the way, and missed the playoffs.
[1]
1978 Washington: Started 6-0, collapsed down the stretch to finish 8-8, and missed out. [1]
2003 Minnesota Vikings: Jumped out to a 6-0 lead but missed the playoffs at 9-7 after a dramatic, last-second Week 17 touchdown by Arizona knocked them out.
2009 Denver Broncos: Started 6-0 under rookie head coach Josh McDaniels, collapsed to a 2-8 finish, and missed the playoffs entirely at 8-8.
Literally Super Bowl or bust.

On track to be mentioned with the all-time great defenses.

I am loving it too. I probably don't have as much confidence in the entire team as you do though. The defense isn't what concerns me.

I believed him. Because you could see it improving. Maybe we are getting close. But damned if we didn't take a little step back in this one. I think we were closer last week than we are this week. That's what is worrisome to me.

When Kyler is scrambling for yards, the offense suddenly starts moving the ball. The problem is he has been very reluctant to leave the pocket in the first half of games and then decides to start using his legs later in the game... I don't want him running too much, but there has to be some way to get him moving around and getting some easy completions because yesterday he was off on a couple nice intermediate throws that could have jump started some drives.

Yep. These things aren't linear but coming off the bye and with Mason back, there were reasons to expect more than we got. Jefferson getting totally ignored in the second half is the type of Level 1 head-scratcher that should never happen, and it shook my confidence in our offense further.
BUT THAT D THO!

Oh I know we have to get better on offense. Last week looked good, but yesterday Kyler was off. Might have been thinking too much, seemed a tad late on several open targets.

Seahawks struggle to run and Darnold isn't great this year without the run game.
SF or Buffalo are the most complete IMO.

Delusional, denial, or about to come together and beat the teams coming up on the schedule? It's about to get interesting!

Not what we expected to see after a bye week with everybody back from injury. But they did get the W. Vikings teams of old usually lost when they under performed.

I had a similar thought go through my brain, but I thought I was just fan excusing...
There is truth to this imo and I knew we were going to get the Colts best shot this week.
If there was ever a trap game? Imo this wAS it season-to-date, with Tampa being the other.
There are obviously no trap games in the next mos, so lets play ball and see what they can do.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
